Before you vote on the poll, read the post first please so you'll understand what I mean when I ask the poll question.
So, I went inactive the other day. For time-related reasons and personal reasons (mainly stemming from procrastination). I've done it so many times. I would say it's been since 2010 since I truly enjoyed writing in e-wrestling. The days of the Hector Rodriguez storyline. I would actually say the exception in those 6 years since was the storyline with Oblivion and Gravedigger's hardcore title reign for those 3-4 months was a blast, too. Basically anytime I've been in WCF since 2010 as Gravedigger or John Barber (which had its moments of fun, too), I was never truly having fun. One of the primary reasons for that was the fact that there's a deadline, which makes sense since this is a competition and we have shows that have to air each week.
With the Michael character, I was once again having fun, but unlike the days of Hector Rodriguez and earlier in my career when I was enjoying writing 24/7, I was enjoying the character development aspect of it the most. Not the shoots as Michael, but telling his story. So I'm relaxing last night and checking out the UCI forums and I start reading Polar Phantasm's thread found here and it gets me to thinking more about the non-wrestling aspect of the Michael character. The point of Polar's thread where he talks about talking about things that happened before everything that's going on now.
I had the story of Michael planned out with months of material. Most of it was planned out in detail, other parts were just bullet points in my head where I could write out all the details and the actual content whenever I wanted to. However, I didn't go all in when it came to actually writing the promos. For one, I procrastinated most weeks and didn't start writing until Sunday morning or afternoon. Another is I didn't want to go over the unwritten 10k limit we have. My biggest issue was that I didn't want to have an RP overly dominated by non-shoot/non-wrestling content.
So like I said, I held back. I didn't go into detail on certain plot points. I also skipped ahead of my plans as well. I had yet to explain the origins of the post-apocalyptic world that Michael is first seen in. I didn't explain who and what the Violare were. I didn't explain how Michael and his family got to where they were in this world (which I still hadn't given a name to either lol). There's so much about that world that I left readers in the dark about and then a big cliffhanger at the end when he reaches Chicago.
Then there's the world where UCI exists and the origins of Michael there haven't been told either. For those who haven't read my RPs but have gotten this far in this post, the Michael character lives in two worlds: one is reality where UCI exists and the other is a reality where a post-apocalyptic event has happened. One is a dream world, the other is reality. Which is which has not been determined.
So...I want to continue writing. Polar's thread inspired me to want to do it because I really, really enjoyed writing the non-wrestling aspect of the Michael roleplays for many reasons. I know some of you may be thinking well rejoin UCI, who gives a shit? You'll take a chance in losing if you don't have enough match-relevant material but you'll still be writing. However, as I mentioned, the deadlines are still there, plus I can't join a competitive environment without being competitive. Call it a weird personality trait if you want, but it's just how I am lol.
My thing is, if I do continue writing as the Michael character, I wouldn't want to post things on the RP board. If I do it, I would want a section created on the boards for non-wrestling writing (bad wording but you get the idea). I also had a desire back in the Dub to do a series called The John Barber Chronicles starring John Barber and Billy due to the popularity of that pairing back when I was running the John Barber character.
So with all that said, would people be interested in seeing the story of Michael continued and better explained without the confines of show deadlines and such? Should a non-wrestling writing section be created? I know some may think that I could easily just continue the Michael story if I return to active competition, but it wouldn't make sense IMO to pause that storyline and pick up months or so down the line.
