Character Name: The Polar Phantasm
Nickname: 'The Sub-Zero Spectre', 'The Icy Manipulator', 'The Antarctican Army', 'Cryogenix Prime'... eh, just call him Polar.
Hometown: Antarctica, LA (originally); New Antarctica, NV (currently)
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 255 lbs.
Alignment: (Super) face - Polar is generally known to possess a calming, uniting force. He is honorable, valorous, and treats his friends as if they were family. His mission in this business: save professional wrestling. (Then, you know. Antics ensue.)
In-Ring Style: Technician (primarily), hardcore (secondarily). Polar is methodical and calculating; if he sees an opening, he'll take it. If he doesn't, he'll try to make one. Polar's career really got to rolling during his tenure in a small-time 'extreme' promotion near his native New Orleans; his hardcore upbringing shows when extreme violence is called for, and his use of weapons is often innovative.
Bio: Born Cameron Bankston, Junior; Polar began his career as 'Kid Phantasm', a young inexperienced talent who eschewed college life to become an indie wrestler. Traveling the eastern seaboard as a job-worker, he eventually found his place as a rising mid-card star in Global Extreme Wrestling (run out of Marrero, Louisiana). Kid P quickly became a crowd favorite, but not everyone was on his side; eventually, the company's owner put Kid in a situation that cost him his job for his failure to win a title match.
The Kid would return, however- within a year, Kid Phantasm was a star on nationally televised big-time wrestling shows. His boss begged him to come back, offering him the top spot in the company; Kid returned, accidentally won a deathmatch against a psychotic female opponent... and, incidentally, during said match fell for the woman of his dreams. She was Crystal Laurendt, a young lady wrestling as GEW's enigmatic ultra-violent terror Nightmare; he had beaten her, sure, but he never showed fear to her and didn't treat her as inferior... she finally opened up to the Kid, and the two quickly became a couple both outside and inside of the ring.
Known as the Unstable Elements, they tore through opponents of all shapes and sizes in some of the most dangerous matches their psychotic employers could've thought to put them through. Cameron and Crystal - Polar and Nightmare - had become a truly epic team; they finally married in 2012, and their first child (Jeffrey James Bankston, named after an old family friend...) was born in 2013. In the time since, Polar has found himself in numerous odd situations... far too many to mention here. But that's why there's a roleplay board, isn't it?
Attire: White singlet/pants combo; singlet white with a gold triangle on the back, pants white with blue 'ice' designs creeping up the legs. The letters 'CGX' are written on the right strap of his singlet; the word 'PRIME' is written on its left strap. 'PHANTASM' is written up the right leg of his pants. Grey elbow pads. Polar never wears hats, rarely wears sunglasses and only dresses in costume when there's a really good reason for it.
Theme song: "Cellphone's Dead" by Beck
Pic Base: Elijah Snow (of the DC/Vertigo masterpiece Planetary); seriously, Google him. Yeah, Polar's hair is THAT white. Polar's pretty white too, I guess. Now I'm rambling.
Entrance: The big screen flashes to a blank screen... with a cursor? Suddenly, text appears... "Iceberg-Seven online... accessing big screen. Access granted... running program 'Polar Phantasm Entrance'." The cursor moves across the screen slowly, as if loading something... and then the screen flashes 'PHANTASM' in large frosted blue letters. "Cellphone's Dead" by Beck begins playing over the loudspeakers as two white spotlights train on the entrance. The curtain parts... and out comes the Polar Phantasm. Polar slaps a few audience members' hands on his way through the arena, then slides beneath the bottom rope and into the ring. Polar takes a quick look around the crowd... and then stares down (waits patiently for) his opponent.
(Obviously 'stares down' would be in case of his entrance being second, 'waits patiently for' in case of entrance first. He wouldn't do both of them at the same time because that's just silly. You're a silly person for thinking that.)
Favorite moves: (I'm a firm believer than anybody who only puts five or six moves here hates the people who write their matches. So, on that note, here's a shitload of options for you matchwriters. Hi! -B.)
* Striking Moves - elbow smash (running, standing, spinning. common reversal strike for Polar). jumping back kick (almost always taken as a wild shot, often done towards a dazed or running opponent). front kick; front kick -> enzui giri (the good ol' 'back brain kick', done as the classic 'as reversal' spot). headbutt (Polar is not above a close-range headbutt, especially when tied up with an opponent or shoved into a corner). overhand punch (Polar's wind-up punch; does a good bit of damage, but takes juuust long enough to get blocked/reversed fairly often).
* Grappling/Throwing Moves - arm wrench -> shoulder thrust, arm wrench -> multiple shoulder thrusts (fairly self explanatory). snap suplex, snap mare (Polar's favorite tosses, usually used to set up a jump/dive/springboard attack). swinging neckbreaker, hangman's neckbreaker (one quick and painful, one slow and deadly. Polar will often reverse front-grapple moves into a swinging neckbreaker... the hangman's version is often also used from the turnbuckle, onto an opened chair when possible). schoolboy, small package (Polar's not above the quick roll-up 3-count victory... small package is a common reversal for Polar, also). german suplex, german suplex with bridge, twin german suplexes (one released German for impact. one bridged German for a pinfall attempt. two sequential, or 'rolling' Germans, in case of emergencies). *snap sitout powerbomb*, gut-wrench powerbomb (in case of weight advantage/comparability, Polar commonly uses either/both of these as high-impact pinning moves). *side scoop piledriver*, *ocean cyclone suplex* (aka the 'Snowplow' and the 'Snowplex'; yes, both of Polar's favorite high-impact attacks are co-opted from the great Al Snow. Makes sense, doesn't it?)
* Running/Jumping Moves - flying headscissor takeover (while running, to standing opponent). springboard dropkick, springboard guillotine leg drop (done to standing/fallen opponents respectively). over-the-top-rope plancha (from inside, onto one or more opponents outside of the ring). sunset flip into ring (one of Polar's few 'high-flying spots', he will dive into a sunset flip attempt as far as 1/4 of the way across the ring if necessary).
* Submission Moves - the 'Antarcticrab' (Polar's named leg hold is a simple single-leg Boston crab, most commonly used to set up tag moves). the Triangle Hold (Not Polar's usual fare, this hold was a 'gift' from GEW's Reptile. Kid/Polar only use the Triangle Hold in case of emergencies). standing figure-four leglock (aka the 'Nagata-lock'; Polar is no submission expert, but this is his weapon of choice for grounding opponents).
Signature Move(s):
* Common Phantasm Spots - senton splash (Kid's old go-to aerial maneuver... still Polar's preferred 'jump' attack to a fallen opponent, from the mat or from the top rope). the 'Antarctican Jam' (second-turnbuckle guillotine leg drop). Southern Lights Suplex (it's a regular ol' Northern Lights Suplex, nicknamed by the GEW announce team due to its repeated use by the Phantasm during his stay there. Polar often uses this as a reversal).
* Common Phantasm Spots, 'Hardcore' Variation - weapons of choice: loaded elbow pads, pressboard tables, folding chair (Polar only uses the 'loaded' pads in case of extreme weight disadvantage. Barring that, Polar prefers tables to chairs... but will use anything and everything he can get his hands on, especially exposed ringposts/turnbuckles). the Hailstone - running dive over the ropes (or a top-rope dive) into a senton splash/cannonball, onto a fallen opponent lying on a table. the Tree of Woe -> running dropkick to face (always in the repetoire, but mostly reserved for use alongside weaponry).
Finisher(s):
* Finisher - the 'Ice Cap' (Kid/Polar's classic match-ender - it's a fisherman's suplex into a brainbuster. Nine of ten times, this is how Polar plans to end a match).
* 'Super' Finisher - the 'Antarctican Avalanche' (In case of emergencies, Polar resorts to this - it's a top-rope Death Valley Driver).
* 'Super' Finisher, 'Hardcore' Variation - Greetings From New Antarctica - top rope sitout gut-wrench powerbomb through table (see also 'total fucking overkill').
Manager (optional): Undecided - consider this a N/A until further notice.
