When some of you are talking about the quality of an rp you mention the "shoot" as a part of the rp, what exactly is the "shoot"?
Also, many RPs have mentioned something called "The Wave", which seems to be something that happenend in the universe, what was "The Wave"?
P.S Thanks in advance!

The "shoot" is basically the shit talk you do on your opponent, and how it's done varies from character to character.
I'll use two examples just to give you a wider scope on it:
Howard Black - Mentally scathing shoot that will leave your character questioning every action he makes. What he leaves out in "hard hits" he makes up for in "cranial slices".
Wade Moor - Usually finds the deepest, darkest part of a characters psyche and attempts to expose it to the world, then comes in with the "hard hits".
How you do your shoot is completely up to your character, his personality, fighting style, etc. Try to play around with it and see what feels more natural or comfortable to you, but try to avoid the "newbie" pitfalls such as saying "I'm the greatest ever because blah, blah" or "your career is worthless blah, blah" because that is so played out. But have fun with it, and don't be afraid to cut deep. We all have generally thick skin so you're not going to upset anyone haha.

The Wave was an event which took place on May 13th of this year. IC mythos is hazy on the Wave; Bonnie and Polar have been trying to figure the whole thing out but there are more questions than answers... ...OOC It's basically the origin of UCI. May 13th is the day the Dub died (for all intents and purposes) and we all came over here to have fun again. Before you ask... the Dub? Not even worth explaining. You know how everything comes from something? Well, let's pretend this Fed just fell out of the sky so I don't have to try to explain WCF. -B.

Expanding on what Wade Moor said, to really get a good grasp of shoot, the easiest way to see it in other's RPs is to look for the portion(s) of the RP where they talk a lot and typically for several paragraphs at a time. Let's take Crow's RP from the last PPV: uciwrestling.freeforums.net/thread/555/great-gameScroll down to the portion in red that starts off with "Hello, Howard. It's me, Crow." That is some of his shoot. Scroll down further to the part in orange. That is more shoot from the perspective of a different character. You'll notice each are multiple paragraphs and as Wade pointed out, they focus on the opponents.

Something to think about when you shoot is the context of it and does it fit your character. I use to run a baby face sumo and coming up with a halfway decent shoot was a nightmare. I will say the best advice I have been told is "really sink your teeth in it." and always flesh it out!
Also th3 wav3 is vague as fuck. Jericho is related to it, as I have hinted at, the way i heard it explained was think of it as the movie the purge all over the world at once.

Man, I hear you on that. I've been in e-wrestling since 1997 and I've spent all but two of those years running heel characters. Other than my Michael character, I've only had two other faces and writing shoot for them has always been hard as I always want to dip into that type of shoot I did with Gravedigger who was pretty much always a heel during his career.

Well i guess i'm lucky i have two characters in one then, that way if i'm having trouble writing a shoot with Sven i can just have Max do most of the shit-talking

My bad, I refuse to spell words with numbers (unless, of course, we're discussing the show NUMB3RS... which I'm totally down for if anybody's into it). But yeah, there is that. You got this, brah! -B.

The biggest thing I want to emphasize about shooting: it is not mandatory. What is mandatory to winning is match relevance. By this, I mean the reader needs to understand the implication of this story on the character going into the match. Odin once put it really well: "If it doesn't have match relevance, it's not a promo - it's a story. We're writing promos."
I encourage baby faces to find ways around the shoot if need. Not the shooting type? Character doesn't seem the shooting type? Have your RP feature him simply thinking about the match or ruminating on it. Have him do a press conference and talk about it. The guys who win consistently are those who are focused on the match that week and can weave their personal story directly into the match.
