So, given that most members of the fed aren't active with an IC account on the real life version of Twitter, I feel I should share what seems to be a bit of a controversial topic and discuss it here.
As many of us already know, UCI was formed from a temporary shutdown. One thing that seems to be the case with people in the efed side of Twitter is that it's considered rude or wrong to try to recruit members of a fed after it shuts down. I have my opinions on the matter as do many others. I'm just curious to hear the opinions of those who aren't aware of the efed side of real life Twitter. Do you consider it rude to invite someone to a fed after the one they're in shuts down?

That seems weird to me. I think that if a fed shuts down unexpectedly, leaving the members high and dry, and cutting off weeks or months of developing storylines, then fuck it... those members are free agents, and therefore available for recruiting. If you were poaching before the fed shut down, that would be rude....and maybe even ethically questionable.
The circumstances involving the other place and here were a little bit unique. I remember finally getting into tinychat for the second time ever (my connection isn't so good) and talking to people, like everything was normal... then that moment of panic when the boards got archived without warning. There was no explanation, no indication given when or if the fed would reopen, absolutely no communication with the members that night. If UCI hadn't been available as an option, we might have all lost touch with a bunch of really awesome people, which would be a tragedy far beyond a little bit of perceived rudeness.
So, in essence, whatever the circumstances of a fed shutting its doors -- and however temporary (or not) that shutdown may be -- I don't see any reason it should be considered rude to recruit writers who need a place to keep practicing their craft.

I don't think that it is rude or wrong to recruit any member of an organization after said organization shuts down, temporarily or otherwise. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but, it's up to that organization to woo them back or keep them if they want them bad enough.
Under the circumstances of what happened prior to the formation of the UCI, I considered my contract with the place of old to be null and void and a breach of contract, per say. That made me a "Free-Agent" and free to negotiate with, or be recruited by, anyone that I wanted.

I don't see offering the roster to a closed fed a place to go as malicious but understand why people can get upset. The whole efed subculture seems pretty incestuous, with everybody knowing everybody else in one form or another. So not only do rivalries carry over but alliances as well. When someone approaches a stranger when a fed closes down (an event we know from experience can stir up some nasty emotions) and asks them to join their fed, they have to keep in mind the person they're talking to could be a friend of the old fed's owner, or part of it's management team, or part of another group that fed's affiliated with who expect those people without a home to join them. They're likely not in the best of moods already, and having someone they might perceive as an outsider come in and profit off a bad situation isn't going to help.
Unless your account has you as a lesbian wrestler with a lingerie model picbase. Then all is forgiven.

It's just a defense mechanism. Considering the majority of the e-fedders who's fedhead's are on Twitter are pretty young they throw up that roadblock so that their members can't see that there are other options than jobbing to "teH OverTaker" on "Mundai Nyt WoRR"
They don't want to lose their members to feds with more talent and better structure. I say: fuck them, rape and pillage. Offer cash prizes to new recruits then deny ever having done it. >_>

Was that unethical?

Sanchez was a weird sort of exception. Plus, Seth already knew when the shutdown occurred that I was sending PMs. I wasn't going to not try to invite Sanchez simply because he didn't return til after we formed lol

In all fairness I wasn't going to stay there when all my friends came here lol. I just had no idea this place existed at first due to my woman hijacking my Facebook.
