Sunday June 26th, 7:37 pm
The scene opens with Dustin Beaver walking side by side with his manager, Vengeance, back down the ramp towards the entrance area at Humboldt Park after securing his TV Title defense victory over Kyle Cameron. They have just finished watching Wentworth Updegraff Jr. on the big screen announce that he will be invoking his TV Title rematch clause and face the Beavs in a leather strap match at the next Overload.
Dustin Beaver: “This Wentworth guy man, he really thinks he’s still the champion! I mean I get it, when I lost my TV belt in that other organization, it was a tough pill to swallow. But I know for a fact that I was a shitty wrestler until I accepted the fact that I was no longer the champ!”
Vengeance slow nods like the monster bad ass that he is.
Vengeance: “Yeah, hopefully we can use that to our advantage. The dude is going to be desperate to do whatever he can to try to pull a win out of his ass. The leather strap stipulation makes things interesting; we’ll have to train specially for that this week.”
This time, it’s Dustin’s turn to nod.
DB: “Yeah fo sho, did you have anything particular in mind?”
Vengeance glances at Beaver and then looks away, gazing off in the distance. Beavs is now confused.
DB: “Well do you or don’t you have a plan for us?!”
Vengeance again looks at Dustin, his painted face not giving away too many details of what is going through his mind. Beaver looks irritated and he soon loses any patience that he has left.
DB: “Look man, do you…”
Vengeance’s booming voice cuts off Beavs before he finishes his sentence.
Vengeance: “Yes! I have a fucking plan for us!”
Dustin stares at the big man, momentarily stunned by the loud exclamation that has stopped him from talking.
DB: “…well would you like to share this plan with me or am I just supposed to guess at what we’re doing this week?”
Vengeance lets out a sigh before he finally speaks again.
Vengeance: “Well, it involves going somewhere that’s not going back to Toronto to train… We’d be going to a place that’s personal to me that I really haven’t shared with a lot of people...”
Beaver stands there, shocked by the proposed plan. Ever since Vengeance has been his manager, Beavs always feels like he is the one calling the shots, deciding where they go and what they do. But now here is
Vengeance, the big guy finally opening up and not just that, but inviting Dustin to some kind of secret location.
DB: “Oh, well shit man, where is this place?”
Vengeance speaks to Beaver, but looks ahead as he does so.
Vengeance: “Not far from here, just one state over… in Iowa.”
Beavs rubs his chin. He was familiar with the state of Iowa but he didn’t know why. Then all of a sudden, it hit Dustin like a punch to the face.
DB: “Oh shit, Veng, you’re from Iowa! Do you still live there?!”
Vengeance looks at Beaver, a look of irritation now visible on his painted face.
Vengeance: “Well no shit, Beaver, you should fucking know that by now! You even made fun of where I live in an old promo of yours from that other wrestling org we were in!”
Beavs turns red faced. He vaguely remembers what Vengeance is referring to.
DB: “Oh yeah well you know, that shit was so long ago, and I was such a different person then. I mean, I’m all about the positivity now, and I’d never say bad things about someone’s hometown now, especially not yours! So it’s almost like I never even did that, right?!”
Vengeance continues to stare at Dustin, showing no signs of agreement or disagreement with Beaver’s statement.
Vengeance: “Oh I’m never going to forget it… but as far as you being a different person now, I’ll let you have that one. And you sure as hell better not say anything bad about Iowa now, or I’ll knock your lights out, Beavlieve THAT.”
Normally, Beavs would be vocal about someone turning his own catchphrase on him. But in this case, he swallows his pride and steers the conversation in a different direction.
DB: “Sooo, where in Iowa are we going then?”
Now sitting in their locker room, Vengeance pulls his phone out of his gear bag and taps at his screen.
Vengeance: “Just outside of Des Moines.”
Dustin sits there, wanting to ask more questions but afraid to do so with Vengeance’s current temperament.
DB: “Des Moines right…about how far is that from here.”
Vengeance continues to look at his phone.
Vengeance: “About five hours.”
Beaver taps his foot nervously. He wants to keep asking Vengeance questions to get all of the particulars of their nearing excursion, but he doesn’t want to push the not so gentle giant too far.
DB: “Got it… So how were you planning on us getting there then? Are we flying and then renting a car, or…?”
Vengeance stops looking at his phone and slowly turns his gaze at Beavs. To say that the big man looks annoyed would be a major understatement. However when Vengeance speaks again, it is with a calm but stern tone.
Vengeance: “Look champ, I know that you like being in charge of everything but for once, let me be your manager and decide what we’re doing this week. You’ll get your necessary training and I’ll make sure you’re ready to beat Wentworth’s ass on Sunday. But for right now, and I say this with all due respect, shut the hell up and let me get shit done.”
Knowing that he’s reached his monster manager’s limit, Dustin throws his arms up and moves slightly backwards.
DB: “You got it, Veng. I promise you will not hear me speak unless spoken to for the rest of the week!”
Looking satisfied with this reply; Vengeance looks at Beaver and gives him one ultimate slow nod.
Vengeance: “Good, now pack up your shit. I’ve got our car ready to go…”
Vengeance stares at Beavs, anticipating a question. Dustin looks back at the big guy and smiles, keeping his mouth shut.
Vengeance: “I like this, but so you’re not killing yourself on the inside wondering, I’ve rented us a car to drive to Iowa. A five hour drive isn’t that bad and I’m tired of fucking flying.”
Beaver gives Vengeance a thumbs up and gathers his things. Vengeance chuckles as he enjoys the new dynamic between himself and his client.
Vengeance: “Yeah, I could for sure as hell get use to this!”
Monday June 27th, 9:35 am
Beavs and Vengeance spent the night in their Chicago hotel before heading out in their already picked up rental car the next morning. Even though he isn’t excited about it, Dustin allows Vengeance to drive. This makes Beaver nervous as hell, but his manager is happy with it and Beavs isn’t about to get between Veng and his happiness this week. As Dustin thinks about it, he realizes that while Vengeance has been his manager in title, there hasn’t yet been a lot of action for his role. Beaver knows that Vengeance is a powerful ally, and he wants him to feel satisfied in his role with the ‘Good, Beaver’ movement. He also knows that Vengeance taking Beavs somewhere that the monster considers “personal” to him is not to be taken lightly. Dustin decides to let his manager know this.
DB: “Hey Veng, I know you didn’t want me speaking unless spoken to this week but I have something I need to say.”
Vengeance continues to stare at the road.
Vengeance: “Sure Beaver, what do you have for me?”
Beavs speaks with a sincere voice.
DB: “I just really want to let you know that I appreciate you taking me to your home for training this week. You said you haven’t had too many other people over to your home and I want you to know that it means a lot to me.”
Vengeance shoots Dustin a glance before looking at the road once again.
Vengeance: “Yeah sure no problem. Don’t be getting all mushy or any of that shit on me though. You’ve got some tough ass training we still need to deal with this week.”
Beaver’s eyes sharpen as he turns his focus to training once again.
DB: “Right! I’m going to take whatever you can dish out, you big bastard! I know Mr. Updegraff can and will be throwing everything, including the kitchen sink at me! But that power of positive Beavlieving will once again conquer the day!”
Vengeance laughs.
Vengeance: “I guess we’ll find out what you’re REALLY made of when we reach our destination then.”
Monday June 27th, 2:15 pm
Beaver stares out the window of the rental car. All he can see for miles is corn fields and livestock, no sprawling city landscapes, just a sea of green as far as the eye can see. The reality of how Vengeance grew up really hits Beavs as he sees his surroundings.
DB: “Damn Veng, this is where you grew up? I mean, there’s nothing around here but farmland!”
Vengeance performs his signature slow nod to perfection.
Vengeance: “Yup, this is where I grew up. It may not look like much, but living somewhere like this and working on the farms instills in you a solid work ethic and a sense of pride in what you do, whatever that happens to be. Growing up here is part of the reason I’ve won multiple titles in my wrestling career.”
Dustin sits there looking impressed. He has never really thought about growing up in a rural area like that before.
DB: “Damn, I guess growing up in a place like this does have its benefits.”
After about ten more minutes, Vengeance turns the rental car down a gravel road. Another moment later and Vengeance again turns the car, this time into the driveway of an impressive looking farmhouse with multiple buildings scattered over the property.
Vengeance: “We’re here.”
With that, Vengeance gets out of the car and stretches his arms into the air. Beaver follows suit, groaning as multiple cracks come from his body as he stretches.
Vengeance: “Once we get in the house, I’ll show you to the guest room but don’t get too comfortable. You’re going to change into your wrestling gear and meet me at the front door, got it?”
Although he wants to just relax, Beaver knows that this isn’t his show to run right now. He shrugs.
DB: “Sure, that works for me.”
Vengeance smirks, a smirk that has an evil edge to it.
Vengeance: “Oh you’ll be working alright. I’m going to…whip you into shape this week.”
Beavs swallows a lump that has formed in his throat. Even as a manager, he knew Vengeance was ready to assume his monster role.
Monday June 27th, 4:57 pm
Dustin has been getting beaten around by Vengeance for over two hours now. As it turns out, Vengeance has a state of the art training facility, including a full regulation size professional wrestling ring in a pole building on his property. Beaver didn’t have too much time to be impressed by his surroundings as Vengeance immediately made him get into the ring and introduced the leather strap to him.
Vengeance: “So you’ve never had a leather strap match, have you?”
Beaver shakes his head side to side.
DB: “No sir, this is the first one I’ve been a part of.”
Vengeance snickers as he attaches one end of the strap to his wrist and then the others to Beaver’s. Once attached, the big man gives the strap a yank, sending Beavs flying towards him. Vengeance then punches Dustin in the stomach, nearly making Beaver puke up the Culver’s double bacon butter burger he had had for lunch.
Vengeance: “Wentworth is going to try to use his size advantage, however small it may be, to overpower you in this match. Your goal is going to be to find a way to counter this.”
The face painted warrior gives the strap another yank, but this time, Beaver rolls towards and under Vengeance’s massive fist. Once safely under the threat, Beavs stands up and swiftly kicks Vengeance in the back of the leg, sending the giant down to one knee.
Vengeance: “Ouch you dick, that hurt! But yeah, you got the idea of what you need to do.”
Dustin rubs at his still aching stomach.
DB: “Yeah, I still feel like I’m about to hurl, but I think we’ve made some progress already.”
Beaver feels like taking a break so that he doesn’t projectile vomit all over the nice ring. He quickly comes up with the best idea he can.
DB: “Hey, I think I’m ready to shoot my promo now. Wanna hold my phone for me?”
Vengeance continues to rub the back part of his leg.
Vengeance: “Yeah, I think we can take a SHORT break.”
Beavs smiles and hops out of the ring. He goes over to his gear bag and produces his phone, handing it to Vengeance. Dustin then gets back into the ring and leans over the ropes. Vengeance gives him a thumbs up when he starts recording.
DB: “Hey there Beavlievers and UCI Universe! It’s your TV Champion, Dustin Beaver, coming to you live from just outside of… beautiful Des Moines, Iowa!”
Dustin quickly adjusts his body to attempt to further dull his abdominal pain.
DB: “I’m training very hard this week with Vengeance at his personal state of the art training facility to get ready for a very special match. Yours truly will be taking on Wentworth Updegraff Jr. in a leather strap match in his rematch for our TV title!”
Beaver turns around and goes and picks the leather strap up off the canvas, holding it up for the audience to see.
DB: “Now truth be told, your Supreme Beavliever has never been in a leather strap match but I’ll be training my ass of this week so that I know exactly what to expect from Mr. Updegraff.”
Beavs points at the camera.
DB: “My manager, Vengeance…”
Dustin points at the giant; Vengeance quickly turns the camera around and waves at the screen before returning the focus to Beavs.
DB: “This isn’t his first rodeo. He’s going to pass down all of the knowledge he has about this match to me and I’m going to take that into the Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 3rd and show
Wentworth once again what the true power of positive Beavlieving is all about!”
Beaver throws the strap over his shoulder, leaving it hanging there as he continues.
DB: “You see, in his current delusional state, Mr. Updegraff still thinks he’s the champion! I know as Beavlievers, you find this just as ridiculous as I do since we’ve already defeated him once fair and square.”
Beavs glances at the strap on his shoulder.
DB: “The fact of the matter is that Mr. Updegraff could pick any kind of match he wants and the result will always be the same. Until he realizes that he’s not only wrestling me, he’s wrestling all of the positive energy and cheers from all of the Beavlievers out there; he’ll have no shot against our full positive power.”
Dustin's face becomes more serious as he continues to speak.
DB: “I already asked Updegraff to throw everything he had at me, and he did. I felt every single strike and devastating maneuver he could muster and I took them in stride, eventually landing the B-2-B putting the exclamation point on the true strength of Beavlieving!”
Beaver then whips the strap off his shoulder, holding it up to the camera once again and points to it.
DB: “You think this piece of leather here is going to change anything, Wentworth?! This thing here is not going to change your negativity; it’s not going to change your attitude of everything being just about you!”
Beavs violently throws the strap out of the ring, as his look is now at its most intense.
DB: “Because the truth is that the world doesn’t revolve around you. There are many problems in the world that need fixing, but you not having the UCI TV Championship sure as hell is NOT one of them.”
Dustin points toward the direction where he threw the leather strap.
DB: “Your world is going to revolve around being in pain once we’re attached by that piece of leather. I’m going to do everything I can to beat into you that positivity is real, that Beavlieving is REAL!”
Beaver points at the camera.
DB: “Mr. Updegraff, you’re NOT the TV champion.”
Beavs then begins walking, jumping down from the ring. The camera follows as he goes over to his gear bag and pulls the UCI TV Title belt from the bag, holding it up and pointing to it.
DB: “Dustin Beaver and all of the Beavlievers out there are the UCI TV Champions. It’s not just about me; it’s about making the world a better, more positive place. It’s about less partying, more hard work and helping people who are in need of REAL help.”
Dustin now puts the title belt over his shoulder as he stands up again.
DB: “Once I defeat you again, Wentworth, I expect there to be no more excuses, no more BS. I want you to go out into the world and make the necessary positive changes to your life. Only then will you EVER have a chance to beat the Supreme Beavliever.”
Beaver flashes his white smile.
DB: “The Beavlievers and I are going to win again on Sunday, all we have to do is… Beavlieve!”
