Character Name: “The Lost Boy” Howard Black
Nickname: The Best That Never Was
Hometown: Lincoln, NE
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 215 lbs
Alignment: Heel
In-Ring Style: Howard Black is an offensive powerhouse – one of the best technical grapplers and submission wrestlers to step into the ring matches with uncommon athleticism and unparalleled aggression. Howard is a combat pragmatist and ring strategist who believes the best defense is a good offense – he forgoes flashiness (not that he’s unable to perform aerial acrobatics) in favor of devastating efficiency and simplicity, though he’s not afraid to take a risk if it can maximize his offense in a moment. Howard could lazily be described as “strong style-esque”, but he’s never been formally trained in such.
Bio: Howard Black – member of the Sentinels, former WCF Tag and Television Champion, and a performer many believe never saw his time. A former college football player and independent wrestler from Nebraska, Howard first saw his big break in WCF, debuting as “the Honey Badger” Howard Black. Black’s debut was marred with controversy, stemming from gimmick overlap to controversial comments criticizing intergender wrestling which sparked a heated online debate. After a string of frustrating losses, Howard’s career began an upward trajectory after becoming number one contender to the Television Title and becoming a member of the Sentinels with Dune and Occulo.
Howard soon entered into a rivalry with Television Champion Thomas Uriel Bates which quickly spilled into a full-fledged blood feud between the men. At WCF Blast, Howard made Thomas Bates submit to capture the Television Title and would defend it in a rematch also featuring WCF Hall of Famer Corey Black two weeks later. At the Ultimate Showdown, Howard entered as Television Champion and was predicted by many to either retain his title or possibly capture the United States or even WCF Championship.
This would not come to fruition as Howard was eliminated fourth to become WCF Tag Team Champion while former rival Thomas Bates would capture the United States Championship and move onto to feud with fellow Sentinel and WCF Champion, Dune. Holding the Tag Team Championship with Jay Omega, who briefly disappeared from the company for controversial reasons, Howard Black found himself alone, defending his title against new Television Champion, Johnny Fly, and bitter enemy Joey Flash. At the conclusion of the match, during which Howard lost the title by falling unconscious, Joey Flash snapped Howard’s arm to send a message to Dune. Howard would not be seen in a wrestling ring for almost half a year.
Howard returned to WCF in the beginning of 2016, announcing he was officially retired but having a final match with fellow Sentinel Occulo against their former friend, Dune. The match would end with Howard submitting Dune with the Kimura Lock, and following the match, the united Sentinels and Joey Flash seemingly liberated Dune from the grip of the Jackal. Howard returned to retirement immediately after.
Howard’s return to the ring is multi-faceted and complicated. A suddenly crumbling personal life, bottled resentment towards his former peers, and the canyon-sized chip on his shoulder have all contributed to Howard’s surprise return and shocking assault of Crow McMorris. The only question left is will Howard fulfill his promise and capture the UCI Championship?
Attire:
-Appearance: Medium-long brown, shaggy hair and a Five O’ Clock Shadow frame Howard’s face. He has no visible tattoos or scars. Howard is deceptively muscular, having the sort of physique one would expect from a former linebacker.
-In Ring: Howard wears black tights, black wrestling boots with white kick pads, and white knee pads. Across either side of the tights, up the leg, is the image of a medieval style lion which come together across the front as if engaged in combat. He wears black elbow pads and has his left hand and fingers taped with only his right wrist and fingers taped.
Theme song: “Lost Boys” by Death Grips
Pic Base: AJ Styles (current)
Entrance:
The lights in the Warehouse go dark as the opening distorted oscillator of “Lost Boys” by Death Grips hits the PA. A chorus of boos immediately swells in the crowd as the beat kicks in and the snare rattles through the speakers. As “LOST BOYS” repeats, a strobe light hits the stage and Howard Black steps through the curtain, his hood up and head down. The belt dangles from one hand, one strap dragging along the ground in nonchalance. Howard's eyes cast back and forth from beneath the shadow of the hood, a cold sneer across his face. He shakes his head dismissively before he begins walking forward.
Heston Meeks: From Lincoln, Nebraska, weighing in at two hundred and fifteen pounds, he is “the Lost Boy”, Howard Black!
Howard ignores the crowd to either side as his eyes stay glued on the ring, stalking down the ramp with a look of cold rage upon his face. He makes his way up the steps and ducks beneath the top rope to enter, tossing the belt in the general direction of the ref before circling the ring and finally making his way to his corner. He pulls off the hoodie and tosses it aside before removing a silver crucifix on a thin chain from around his neck. He stares at it for a moment, kisses it softly, then places it around the ring post before leaning back in his corner.
Favorite moves:

-Suplex variations (German, Gut Wrench, Northern Lights, Belly-to-Back)
-Shining wizard
-Mounted punches, knee strikes, and elbow strikes
-Diving stomp
-Double-leg/Single-leg Takedown
-Fireman Carry Facebuster
-DDT variations (swinging, snap, diving)
-Pinning variations (Small Package, Sunset Flip)
-Missile Dropkick (occasionally single leg)
-Running Lariat

Signature move(s):
-Pitbull Lock: A front chancery intensified by violent movement to put additional pressure and strain on the neck of an opponent. Named for the “hold and shake” bites of pit bulls.
-The Mollywhop: High impact clubbing fist to the side of the head. Often comes out of nowhere.
-Diving Spear
-Springboard Lariat: Most commonly a counter to an Irish Whip, Howard will leap to the top rope, landing in perfect balance feet-first, and twist while rebounding to nail the move.
-Tree of No Cares: Sit-out spinning arm-trap DDT, often rolled straight into the Kimura Lock
Finisher(s):
-The Seventh Seal: Jumping high angle knee strike to the temple, similar to the Boma Ye or Knee Plus. Often immediately followed by the Kimura, though Howard will simply pin in desperate situations such as extreme fatigue. Also occasionally delivered to opponents in the Tree of Woe. Also worth noting that Howard will occasionally deliver several Seventh Seals in succession to a dazed opponent, which can end the match in knock out. Saved for extreme circumstances
-Kimura Lock: A simple Kimura Lock and Howard’s primary finisher for ending matches. It’s a move Howard has down to a science and can lock it in at almost any position and at any time.
