So per Spencer's request, here's a gaming thread where we can talk about our favorite games, past or present and even future. First I want to list my current games I'm into:
PC Games
World of Warcraft
As I posted in the other thread, I play on occasion. Right now whenever there's holiday events going on in the game. The Midsummer Fire Festival is coming up in a couple of weeks so I'll likely be on during that time and for a couple of weeks after until I get bored again. Then it's waiting until Brewfest I think.
Skyrim
I still freaking love this game and I mod it. I'm slowly getting into modding in multiple games actually but I've mainly stuck with the list of games you can find at nexusmods. I'm skeptical of other places out there as I'm afraid people may find ways to insert malware or ways to hack into my system. I'm waiting on Fallout 4 to get some age on it so I can finally play with mods on that game.
XBox Games
Smite
I started playing this about 3 weeks ago and I freakin love this game! It's so much fun. I have never played any of the other similar games like DOTA or LOL. My favorite gods at the moment are Hun Batz and Nu Wa. When they have the gametypes for unlimited mana and no cooldowns (I think that is the right combination), I destroy with Hercules. The times when they have that gametype I average 13-15 kills per game. I would classify myself as mediocre at the game. Sometimes I do terrible, sometimes I do great. Hun Batz is fun to play as and with Nu Wa, I tend to be a couple of levels above everyone due to slaying minions and getting cheap kills on the enemy gods. I love her ultimate and tend to use it well to get kills before people return or give my allies that extra oomph to help them kill the gods they're fighting.
I typically play this with my brother and a long-time friend of ours.
Battlefield 4
This is another of my main games I play. I play this an average of 4-5 nights per week with my brother, the previously mentioned long-time friend and three former co-workers. We have our own server on here that flips back and forth between Conquest and Hardcore Team Deathmatch. I tend to play Recon with a FLIR scope. I tend to do really well in this game. Without the FLIR scope, I tend to get my ass kicked lol.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Yes, the 360 game. Since it went backwards compatible, some of our old crew who used to play this together all the time will get together 1-2 nights per week and play some. I am not that great at this game, but still have fun.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Just recently beat the game (on Normal difficulty) and this game is so great! I will probably go for a lot of the achievements and play the game on the hardest difficulty. I will definitely not be perfecting it achievement wise as the Score Attack mode is just beyond my capabilities lol. But yeah, awesome story, awesome gameplay, awesome graphics. I love these type of games where you level up and craft shit and all that (big fan of the Far Cry games obviously).
Grand Theft Auto V
I play this on occasion with friends, one of my favorite game series ever. The people who thought this up were brilliant. The online launch of this game was absolutely horrid though. Rockstar did such a bad job and honestly I think it was one of the biggest flops of the entire history of gaming. Although they did recover and the online is really awesome now, I really hope they learned their lesson for the next game. Heists suck by the way. They're glorified missions. I would say heists were almost as much of a failure as the online launch itself. I troll the fuck out of friends in this game with car bombing and muggers.
If you want to see how hilarious this game can be look up Let's Play GTA videos by Achievement Hunter. If you're not familiar with them already from their Let's Play Minecraft series or Red vs. Blue (even though that's Rooster Teeth), you're living under a rock when it comes to gaming. Specifically check out Enter the Dragonface or look up Gavin gets mugged GTA V on Youtube.
Destiny
I really enjoy playing this game at times but this was a giant disappointment of a game and that was really surprising considering it was made by Bungie who seemed to have hit gold with every single Halo game. They told a lot of lies about this game to get people to buy it. If anyone is interested, I can elaborate.
Even though I understand that they were trying to build the fireteams around the number of classes, I think that was a mistake and I often had 4 people wanting to play at the same time so we'd either have to play Crucible matches or someone had to leave the party. The game needs a lot more content as it only takes a couple of sessions to clear out the missions the DLC has brought with them.
Dying Light
Awesome, awesome zombie game. I could not for the life of me figure out why most of my friends list didn't get this game though. I mainly played this with my best friend and there was one other friend of ours who rented it for a time and played with us. I still haven't beaten this game yet though. I'm waiting for the day it becomes free because then I'll have some friends who are getting it then and I can finally complete it.
Fallout 4
Fucking awesome game, but the main story didn't really keep my attention. I spent days playing with the settlements feature.
Minecraft
I play this on occasion. I'm more of an explorer than a creative builder. As I previously mentioned, check out the Let's Play Minecraft series from Achievement Hunter. They recorded over 200 episodes of them playing the game every week. Hilarious, entertaining stuff.
Past games I want to mention
Hearthstone
I play this on occasion but it's actually been a while since I last played. I was never really into card games back during the Pokemon and Yugioh days. I played enough to help my brother who played seriously and went to area tournaments though. This game is fun due to the whole Warcraft theme.
Starcraft 2
I've played this game a lot, but I kinda got into it a little late and so it's harder to get into the matchmaking. As I stated in the WoW thread, I'm a clicker and so it directly affects me in games like this. The insane speed the top people have at using the keyboard blows my mind. I've loved the campaign. I would like to play matchmaking more but the problem is that there's not enough people playing to be able to play big games against the computers (3v3 and 4v4) unless you want to sit in queue for over 30 minutes. Then the co-op gametype is fun until you've done each level 5-10 times and get people who basically join a game and make you do all the work.
