Serenity and Avery get home from the pumpkin path. His truck was loaded with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Even a huge one that Avery could barely lift up. As they park, Avery turns towards her.
Avery: So... all on the porch?
Serenity: For now, yes.
He nods.
Avery: In the barn with Daisy is an old red wagon. A Radio Flyer. It was mine as a kid. Mind grabbing it as I pull the gourds out to the tailgate?
Serenity: "Yeah I'll grab it"
She runs off to grab it. He starts to slide the largest pumpkin towards the tailgate as she returns with a smile on her face.
Avery: Yeah. Yeah. It is old. I've had it forever. Since I was real little. One of the last metal Radio Flyers my parents could get their hands on.
Serenity: I can tell. Now we'll have it for our kids.
She smiles at him. He smiles.
Avery: Our kids. I love that thought.
He starts to load the pumpkins.
Serenity: Me too. One day.
Avery starts to pull the wagon towards the porch.
Avery: By the way... my UCI career continues with a fun matchup on Monday. Just guess. Please... guess.
He chuckles.
Serenity looks at him, as she shrugs.
Serenity: Another monster, or supernatural type person again?
Avery tries not to laugh.
Avery: Have you ever heard of "Ass Pounders 2: Good Will Dickings" ?
Serenity looks at him.
Serenity: No... you know I don't watch that stuff....
He laughs harder.
Avery: Neither do I. It's gay porn apparently. And that is who I am facing. A former star.
Serenity: I hope he doesn't try anything with you.....
Avery drops the handle of the wagon laughing even harder.
Avery: No, No.
He cannot breathe.
She laughs as well.
Serenity: What... you are hot babe...
Avery: Seriously. This is actually a title match. But the last match, the dude defended his title by his friends beating down his opponent. One of those sort of guys.
Serenity: Of course. Sad when they need help, or make up lies. You need to keep an eye open on them.
Avery: When you are not confident in your own abilities, it is what some people resort to.
He pulls the wagon the rest of the way.
Serenity: You are right, but how often has he got away with doing that in defense matches?
Serenity looks at him wondering.
Avery: I need to watch more tape. But I need to watch my back out there. First chance at gold in UCI? I am going to do what it takes to show the company what a real champion looks like.
Serenity: I hope its the right kind of tape on him, and not...
She stops as she notices the look Avery is giving her. She tries to laugh softly.
Serenity: I'm kidding babe. We can watch some of his matches later, see what he is all about.
Avery shakes his head.
Avery: I think I know how to go at him. Direct. And just to make a point of who I am and how I earn what I have.
Serenity: That could work. Too bad you don't have anyone who could have your back if his buddies try anything....wait, what if you talked to Bull...
Avery: I am not sure what he thinks of me. But I am going to go into this solo. I am sure that I can do it. I just need to be ready which I am.
Serenity: That works too. I just don't want to see you lose because of others, I rather it be fair if you were to...
Avery appreciated her concern.
Avery: Thank you, babe.
He stands up and stretches his back.
Avery: I love you, you know that? I will see what I can do this time. And if he decides to pull some shit. Well. He doesn't know who he is messing with,
Serenity: I know you do. I love you too Ave. He will be messing with a great wrestler who will find a way to come out on top.
Avery smiles as Serenity knows in the short amount of time they were together just how determined he really was.

When: October 11th, 2017
We open as Avery Miles III is in the parking lot of the Moscone Center, the location of the Squared Circle Convention that New Generation Wrestling is putting on. Avery has his autograph session today, but he arrived early enough to get a lay of the land. It was not uncommon for Avery to be prompt and early; it was in his nature. Avery had decided to go on ahead of Serenity knowing it was going to be a busy weekend. C2 Con during the week. West Coast Genesis with Serenity on Saturday. Dissension for New Generation Wrestling on Sunday. And then UCI on Monday. Avery would check things out, do some filming, and head back to the hotel to get his girl. Avery grabs a camera crew as he stands outside in the lot. The fog of a San Francisco morning was in full effect as the steam from his coffee rose up into the air. He stands in a Peach State Wrestling hoody and jeans, with dark blue sneakers.
Avery: We are just a few more days away from the last episode of UCI Overload before Killing Floor! I am involved in a pretty serious match, and for that I am grateful. I am taking on a man that has been pretty successful here in United Championship Infinite, Jack Schlongson. A man that they call "The Crack". I am not sure it is because he is addictive or because he is the split between a couple of cheeks.
Avery has himself a light laugh, but then focuses back on the video at hand.
Avery: The UCI Television champion. A champion so great that he relies on his band of merrimen known as Rekt Em. A champion so great that he cannot defend his title on his own. And a champion so great that he calls himself "UCI's Number One Fighting Champion!" even though he barely fought and once I beat him for the title he won't be a champion. Jack has been impressive by the numbers, yes. He has amassed some accolades in United Championship Infinite. Tag team champion and tag team of the year. For someone that obviously has some sort of talent inside of the ring, cheating is your way of trying to achieve success? Let me guess, why not do it the easiest way possible? And in that thinking, if it is remotely true, shows the difference between someone that works hard and earns what they achieve versus someone that takes the easy way and truly has never earned much.
Avery shakes his head, disappointed in the way that some other people handle their business. For Avery, we was taught at a young age how important it was to work hard and to not cut corners. Being self-sufficient was a must as the son of a farmer. Avery had to wake up before school, work with the animals, go to school, come home and do some more work, homework, and then what little time he had left was his. Most kids would hate this sort of life, but it taught Avery dedication and work ethic. He enjoyed giving it his all. Winning was great. And losing was an excuse to work harder, to win next time.
Avery: Check my record, Jack. I've held titles. And I had defended them respectfully. I even defended a tag team title on my own against one of the greatest tag teams I have ever faced. I knew full well going in that I was at a disadvantage. One partner left the country, and another disappeared on me. But what did I do? I faced them head on and lost. But I gave it all everything and my all. I do not feel bad about losing because I lost it fair. I did not force myself to cheat or cut corner so that I would keep something of greatness. And when I win the Television Championship, I will help to restore some order and respect back to the title. And let us review this title a bit, shall we?
Avery smirks as if he had made sure to study the history of the Television Championship.
Avery: A title in existence since May of 2016... meaning we are coming up on 18 months of history. Only three people have held it twice. the longest reign of 63 days by Zombie McMorris. And s
Avery closes his eyes as he says the name, his two fingers to his forehead and he shakes his head side to side. He takes a deep breath in, exhales, and looks back into the camera lens.
Avery: 63 days. I held my first ever title, the NGW Marquee Championship, for 72 days. I had my first ever tag title for 70 days. And I held the Guerreros of Lucha Rey de Reyes Championship; their Heavyweight Championship, for 174 days. I know what it takes to bring pristige to a championship. I know what it feels like to win them, and what it feels like to defend them. I set the bar for the rest of those fighting for the title. And to me? The title that I hold is the most important in the company because I defend it fairly every chance I get. I do not rely on others to help me defend it. I do not dodge challenges. I make sure to do everything that I can in MY power. You hear that, Jack? Mine. Not anyone else. Not Billy Big Balls. Or Two Pump Tony. ME. M. E. You are a prime example of what a champion should not be. You do not deserve that title. And the fans deserve so much better.
Avery shakes his head as if he was, himself, disappointed in the current UCI Television Champion. He looks off camera as if for a second he were taking the jumbled thoughts in his head and arranging them. He slow blinks, and looks back into the lens.
Avery: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will be the place that I earn the Television Champion. Earn, Jack. Not steal. Not take. EARN. WIN. Fair and square. I will put your shoulders to the mat for the One, Two, Three.
Avery crosses his arms.

Avery: And the win will continue my streak here in UCI. 6 wins. You will become my 6th win. Every week I've talked about the streak. It has become more and more apparent. It was something that I knew would end in time. But you are not the man to break it. You are not worthy. You are not up to the challenge. Prove me wrong, Jack. Show me up. Come out to the ring without any crew. Come out to the ring alone, with the championship. Fight fair and square. Do not cheat. Do use illegal tactics. Do not cut corners. Me vs you, do you really think that you can win? Show me. Show UCI. Show the fans. And if you use one of those "but I don't have to" lines... well, we all know what that means. Nothing more needs to be said. You know what it means. I know what it means. THEY. Know what it means.
Avery tilts his head and raises brow. A lick of the lips and a smirk.
Avery: Come on, "Champ". Show me what you got. It ain't good 'nuff.

When: FLASHBACK
A young Avery Miles III is on his bicycle riding down the gravel driveway.
Avery: Don't let go dad!
His father, Avery Joseph Miles II, holds onto the seat and runs alongside the young boy's bike.
Joe: I've got you, Ave.
Avery pedals his bike as Joe feels him begin to balance. Without letting Avery know, Joe lets go of the seat.
Avery: Faster dad! Faster!
Joe: You are doing it!
Avery looks back and realizes that he is on his own. He is doing it... until the handlebars wobble and Avery is sent tumbling hard to the gravel. Joe hurries to come to the aid of his son.
Joe: Ave! You okay buddy? You okay?
Avery turns over as his arms are scraped from the rocks and he has a look of terror on his face. How could his dad betray him? Or that was the thought coming across the mind of the young boy.
Avery: Dad... why did you let me go...
Joe: You had it Ave...
Avery looks down and sees barely any blood coming from his elbow, but it was the end of the world nonetheless. The little boy begins to shed some tears.
Joe: No. Don't do it. You are a big boy now. You can ride a bike-
Avery yells back.
Avery: NO I CAN'T! I NEED HELP!
Joe gives it a few seconds as he calmly responds.
Joe: Yes you can. And yes you will. Now get up. On your feet, Avery.
Avery pouts, but sees the look in his father's face than means business. He begrudgingly gets up as Joe lifts his bike back up.
Avery: You let go, and I fell.
Joe: You got scared. You can't get scared. And you gotta learn to do it alone. I won't always be here for you.
Avery: Yes you will!
Joe: No. No I won't. One day you are going to grow up and live away from me. You are going to have a wife.
Avery: No! Never!
Joe laughs. Just in hearing distance but enough away to spy, his mother Katherine sees this important lesson that will define much of Avery's life.
Joe: Yes. You will be a dad one day, too. You will be doing just what I am doing. You will teach your son or daughter how to ride a bike. And to not be scared. You can do whatever you put your mind to. I know it. Your wildest dreams can come true. If you just try. And try. And try some more. Okay?
Avery nods.
Joe: So, ready to give it a go? Ready to show me that you are not scared? And you are ready to be a big boy?
Avery: Okay.
Unsure of himself, Avery fixes his helmet and climbs back aboard. He starts to pedal his bike as Joe holds on.
Joe: Okay. You are going good.
Avery: No...
Joe: Yes. You got this. Show me. Show me you don't need me. Show me that you are willing to give it your all.
Joe slowly lets go but runs along. Avery does not notice. Joe pulls his hands back.
Joe: You got this buddy!
Avery pedals and pedals.
Avery: I am doing it! Dad! Look!
Joe: I see your buddy!
Katherine just stands and smiles watching her son and husband bond, and learning an important life lesson. This lesson would remain with Avery. Count on yourself. Do not make others do the work for you. Believe in yourself. And always give it your all.
