If you have me added on Facebook you already know this, but on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, I graduated High School. I've heard the word "congratulations" enough times that I never want to hear it again. Saw a lot of friends and acquaintances for what may be (and in quite a few cases, definitely will be) the last time and despite this... I don't really feel any different than I did a couple weeks ago when I was still in school. Then again I don't know what I expected to feel when I got handed my diploma but I guess I expected it to feel a bit more, momentous. My school e-mail has been deleted, I can literally go and grab my diploma, and I had a text conversation with a buddy of mine over the concept of Eternal return and for some reason I still feel like I'm in High School. I dunno, just venting I guess.
EDIT/PS: So this is my 69th post ayyyyy lmao

Like "wait...aren't I supposed to feel like I've just crossed that line?" then the very next day after the ceremony, we drove an hour to play a shithole venue in the middle of nowhere, which was something we did pretty often around that point haha. Yeah, its kind of weird, like you expect to feel some sort of switch flipping or something during these big points and it kind of just feels more nebulous, like you are just kind of phasing into the next part. I've been graduated for six years, and I guess I feel different now than I did then, but more in an aging sense. I mean, it doesn't bother me much anymore, but it feels odd all the same when I think about it.

School is a government conspiracy. I feel no emotion towards your 'accomplishment'
Jk
I know what you mean. It's more like 'what now?' Instead of 'yay, next proverbial chapter of my life!'
well felicitaciones and buenas suertes

Welcome to the New World lol For me graduating high school was like escaping Alcatraz. Me and my cousin graduated at the same time so we hit the road on a Greyhound to see the country. That lasted for a couple of weeks before we had to find jobs lol

Woo-hoo Frankie and I aren't the youngest round these parts anymore. My high school graduation was two years ago and I can't say I miss those days. Still, it's an achievement that shouldn't be taken for granted

really high school is only a big deal if you don't graduate from it. Otherwise it's like you said.. the people want to stay in contact with you will. The others you won't.. and you won't really miss them. As for going to school.. you learn a lot of stuff you'll never need to use again. Sort of feels like a waste in a way. Graduating is important.. but only because it leads to the next step whatever you want that to be for you.

I only graduated last year, at 24, it was pretty much demeaning by the end.
It's been a year and I still dig holes for 12hrs everyday...
that masters in marketing is about as useful as a cock-shaped hat.

I graduated from a New Orleans catholic high school despite an outstanding F on my transcript... for Religion. I had to take summer school Religion for my senior year to get my diploma. It was just as ridiculous as it sounds.
Honestly I still felt like a high school kid until I got a car and could drive myself to college, hang out in the arcade playing Gauntlet Legends all day and skip my classes, then drive home and lie to my dad about how school was that day.
College major: Resin scraping (minor in Gamecube)

Ah, high school. Grade 9 was the best five years of my young life. That's not a joke, either; I dropped out a bunch of times, and re-started ninth grade several times. Never actually finished, because I got expelled the last time, and just said fuck it. But whatever, I got my G.E.D., so I don't really care all that much.

Fuck yeah, G.E.D.!
I had to drop out because I was hosting an alien parasite for nine months. Also, because I took the SAT in 7th grade and had been bored with school ever since.

I'm almost positive I only made it through senior year because nobody wanted to fail the kid whose dad just died. I blew it off worse than America blew off the Adventures of Pluto Nash. That's with the exception of my Film class of course. I went HAM on that. Either way, good job making it through. Most of the last generation of my family didn't graduate high school, so don't let anyone tell you it's not that big of a deal. You're totally right though. There's no feeling of finality. It's not even like a new chapter begins. It's just sort of like, this chapter continues kinda. It doesn't change eleven years later. I'm still wondering what the fuck happened. I'm not sure what I'm saying. Good luck, I guess?

I was that quiet kid who missed 32 days his Sophomore year and didn't try til the last quarter of Junior year and graduated with a 2.2 GPA hahaha bottom 10 in my class.
