Jonas Leveque came from a wealthy family, son of Psychologists Nora Townsend And Jonathan Leveque. His father was a well known voice on modern day Psychology and was on several television shows and celebrity panels, while his mother was a respected Child Psychologist. His parents divorced when he was 3, and 2 years later, Nora published "Living with Leveque" a book detailing among other things a homosexual affair Jonathan had which ultimately led to the divorce. After a lengthy court battle, full custody was granted to Jonathan of young Jonas, and Nora was found civilly guilty of slander, which destroyed her career and her relationship with her son. Jonas was sent to Newfoundland to stay with his great uncle during summers starting at age 9 and it was here that he grew a love for wrestling. His great uncle trained several young men in his basement and saw in Jonas an it factor based on his supreme intelligence and physical prowess. For 9 years, Jonas trained and studied under his great uncle while attending school at some of the finest private schools in New York State. At age 18, Jonas decided, against his fathers wishes, to pursue wrestling full time. His great uncle Ray passed away that same year, but his connections would lead Jonas to find a home in NECW. He wrestled for NorthEast Canadian Wrestling as The Mind Master, a masked character with an affinity for Rorschach inkblots. This character, along with his exquisitely smooth technical ability combined with a penchant for violence, won him a cult following in many circles. He won the NECW World Title in 2016, and at the same time, found out his Father and his fathers longtime partner were shot by his biological mother. Jonas arrived at his fathers deathbed and, before his father passed, received his blessing to wrestle and buried the hatchet. Shortly thereafter, he dropped the NECW title, and was offered contracts with UCI and WCF, choosing UCI Because " ...I wanted to be a wrestler, and not part of some reality show circus..." referencing WCF's recent trend toward more "sports entertainment" themed programs.
