BleacherReport.com:
To call the opening match of UCI Overload "violent" would be an understatement. Fans watched in awe as Stiletto brutalized the team of Burn Out and Edward Thorton Jr., the match ending with a gruesome Dolphin Driver off the apron to Thorton and a double armbreaker to Burn Out, called the #Krewcifixion by the team. Following the bout, Thorton Jr. and his father Thorton Sr., who received an flying stomp from Thursday Kerrigan while attempting to intervene in the match, were both rushed to the hospital following the bout. Burn Out was tested under concussion protocol and is believed to have suffered a double pectoral tear from the finishing maneuver. In spite of this, Burn Out has been booked to face Nathan von Liebert, another infamously dangerous competitor, this week on Overload.
Thorton Sr. was treated for a broken sternum and is expected to be released in a few days. Thorton Jr., however, has been placed in a medically-induced coma after entering the hospital in critical condition with severe cranial and spinal injuries. Thorton Jr. is expected to undergo surgery immediately to relieve pressure in his skull. Updates will be posted as they come.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Thorton Family. When UCI was announced, we understood the possibility of extreme violence. But is this too far?
