Cameras were rolling backstage with United Championship Infinite's: “Watch The Throne” well under way. It was liked the cameras had been placed perfectly because at that very moment walking back through the curtain and into the gorilla position was the brand-new UCI Intercontinental Champion. Carson was covered in sweat and clearly in a little bit of pain as well as feeling exhausted. However he was clutching that championship to his chest. Several people were quick to begin shaking his hand and giving him congratulations for the victory. A large smile was spread all across his lips while he proceeded to walk along. Making his way down a small set of steps that lead him into the actual backstage area. As soon as his feet hit the concrete flooring a woman with a microphone in hand found herself right in his face.
[ uci exclusive interviewer ] JANE DOE: “Mikey, Mikey! Can I have a moment of your time?”
He was quick to wipe some sweat that had started to drip down into his eyes.
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “Sure you can! What can I do for you?”
[ uci exclusive interviewer ] JANE DOE: “Well it’s obvious with that fifteen pounds of gold sitting on your shoulder. You went out there and did what many people would have considered unthinkable. You defeated Bonnie Blue to win the UCI Intercontinental Championship. How are you feeling right now?”
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “Honestly, I haven’t actually had the time to process everything. I’m standing here with the gold, but it truly hasn’t really hit home that I am the new UCI Intercontinental Champion. Like you said it was considered unthinkable. No one really believed that I had the ability to do what I did tonight and somehow I managed to make it happen. I defeated one of the biggest names to ever be part of this wonderful company. Not just once, but I was able to pin her twice out there. It’s very surreal.”
[ uci exclusive interviewer ] JANE DOE: “Very surreal I would say. Though, with that being said. I don’t mean to take anything away from you when it comes to what went on tonight. After all that championship is very well earned. At the same time though there’s going to be a lot of people that point out what happened in the closing of the match. Saint Remi proceeded to distract Bonnie...”
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “Hit the pause button and let me just stop you there.”
Holding his hand up a little bit and really driving home the point. Sure enough the interviewer found herself falling silent nearly right on command. Mikey started to shake his head just a little from side to side.
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “Look, I know that Saint decided to put his love out there to Bonnie. He chose to do so at the worst possible time. In the middle of a match. However, at the same time I’m not going to apologize for taking advantage of the situation. Bonnie is a veteran. She knows that she isn’t meant to take her eyes off the prize. I did what she would have done to me if I had made that rookie mistake. Sure, it sucks that Saint stuck his nose where it didn’t belong at the time but those type of things happen. I shouldn’t have something taken away or tainted due to something I couldn’t control.”
[ uci exclusive interviewer ] JANE DOE: “That’s fair, but speaking of fair. Do you intend on giving Bonnie an eventual rematch for that Intercontinental Championship? Especially now with what happened out there tonight?”
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “As the former champion, she’s technically owed a rematch in the first place. Something that I’ve got no problem honoring. Anytime, any place she wants it. She can have it. But that’s it. One rematch, she best hope she doesn’t allow herself to get distracted again. Because if she loses a second time. There isn’t going to be giving her a another title shot. She’ll have to earn it. I like Bonnie, I respect her to a degree, but she’s also going to learn to give me the respect that I deserve as well.”
[ uci exclusive interviewer ] JANE DOE: “Once again that’s fair. Well, I guess the last question I have for you is what is going to be your first course of action as the Intercontinental Champion?”
For a brief moment Mikey had paused. Almost like he was taking the question and really thinking it over. Suddenly a small smirk started to form over his lips.
[ the intercontinental champion ] MIKEY CARSON: “I would say pick up my girlfriend and head to Disneyland. However, I think the first thing I’m going to do is take a nice hot shower, ice my muscles, and get a good night’s sleep before anything else.”
Chuckling a little bit, he patted the young woman on the shoulder before walking on past her with that Intercontinental Championship continuing to drape over his shoulder. Cameras had turned to make sure that they got a glimpse of the new champion walking away. At this point it was almost a given that Bonnie and Mikey would be meeting each other in the future for some type of rematch. On that night Mikey would be tested once again but for right now he was going to get to soak in the moment of being a champion for the first time in his young career. Cameras found themselves fading out at that moment.
