Sunday August 21st, 9:20 pm
The scene opens with Dustin Beaver sitting in a quiet locker with his partner, Wade Moor, just after their losing effort in the Tag Team Championship match at Overload. Beavs sits with his head down, deep in thought of what he could have done differently and what went wrong. He had been so close to that gold that he could taste it. But in the end, his and the Leviathan's best efforts just weren't good enough. Dustin continues to sit there and beat himself up until Godnilla's words broke the silence.
Wade Moor: "Dusty, we did everything we could that match, brother. You've said it before yourself, there's no reason to dwell on the past."
Beaver still sits in silent contemplation for a moment until his jaw begins to ache. Normally the pain would be something that Beavs would be irritated by, but this time it's different for some reason. He begins to laugh while still looking down at the floor.
WM: "What's so funny?"
Dustin begins to rub at the side of his face.
Dustin Beaver: "Damn, you've still got it, champ. That Broseidon Punch you hit me with damn near knocked my jaw into the front row of the crowd!"
Wade begins to laugh.
WM: "Ha yeah, I guess I did hit ya pretty fucking hard, huh? I can't say that you were the intended target, but at least we know that the power is still there, right?!"
The pair finally look at each other as the laughter continues.
DB: "Yeah man I mean, we gave it our best and that was as much as I could ask for. The old Beaver would have been trashing this locker room and crying that it was someone else's fault..."
Beavs stops mid sentence and turns slightly to the side. He can't Beavlieve how far he's come since that young, brash #bk wrestler that he once was. Moor picks up where he left off.
WM: "But this Beaver that sits in front of me is a man. He is able to look at any situation presented to him and deal with it in a way that a man should. Win, lose, it doesn't matter, we didn't NEED that gold to prove our worth. And you see that, Dusty, you see that you've carved your own path to success already."
Beaver looks at Wade again. The Leviathan had said everything that Beavs had wanted to.
DB: "Yeah, that's...that's everything that I wanted to say, ha ha. You know me too well, bruh."
Moor puts his hand on Dustin's shoulder, the classic Beav-Moor gesture.
WM: "How about we get the hell out of here and get some of that Beaveater stuff you're still always talking about?"
Beavs nods slowly, a smile on his face.
DB: "Sounds great."
The duo then gathered all of their belongings and made their way out of the Sprint Center, heads held high.
Monday August 22nd, 8:35 pm
Dustin Beaver is sitting in his overstuffed leather chair at his lavish home on the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Beavs is relaxing after getting home from Overload earlier that day and before he gets back to the training grind the next day. He's busy watching the rest of the Overload card that he missed when his phone rings. Dustin checks who's calling and answers it almost immediately.
DB: "Mr. Jones! It's been awhile, how have you been?"
Mr. Jones, Beaver's agent, wasted no time in replying.
Mr. Jones: "Beaver, baby! It's been too long! I've been well, keeping an eye on you in that new wrasslin' organization you're apart of."
This statement made Beavs nervous. He didn't think that Jones would be too thrilled about him missing out on an opportunity for gold.
DB: "Uh yeah, that's been pretty fun so far... So what did you need to talk to me about?
Mr. Jones: "Yeah, listen the whole wrestling thing, it's great. But people have really been taking note of your 'Good Beaver' campaign and all of the positive vibes and acts of good will that have been coming from it. Listen, we have a great offer on the table that you have the amazing opportunity to be apart of..."
DB: "Cool Mr. Jones, is there any catch to it?"
Jones pauses for a moment.
Mr. Jones: "Well Beavs, the catch is that you'll be going to Africa and the Middle East to help with relief work, like rebuilding buildings and handing out supplies, and that...you'll need to take a break from wrestling."
Dustin sits in stunned silence for a minute before finding his voice again.
DB: "Relief work, like rebuilding buildings and handing out supplies...in Africa and the Middle East?! That's some serious shit, Mr. Jones! And no wrestling?!"
Mr. Jones: "Listen Dustin baby, I know this seems scary. But you'll be well guarded by armed guards in the area and you won't be over there forever! Plus, this is a REAL opportunity to help people that REALLY need the help! Not only will this be good for your whole movement, but we're talking a lot more than just an alcohol deal once you come home from this. This is a win-win with just a little break in your current career. Hell, you could go back to wrestling the second you come home if you really fucking want to!"
Beaver pauses too long and Jones continues.
Mr. Jones: "I wouldn't be bothering you so late with this, but this is a time sensitive deal. This group that would sponsor you wants an answer tonight and they want to get you on a plane over there by next Monday, otherwise they're going with someone else. But they WANT you. I know this is out of nowhere and it's a major life move but I'm telling you, Beavs, you really should do this."
Before he can think about it too much, Dustin quickly answers.
DB: "I'll do it."
Mr. Jones: "Great! I'll let them know that you're on board! This is great stuff, Beavs, congratulations you're doing a good, and smart, thing here! Stop by my office on Wednesday at, let's see, two and we'll hammer out the details, sound good?"
DB: "Yeah, that works, see ya later Mr. Jones."
Beaver presses the red phone button and sits quietly, with nothing but the noise of quiet wrestling announcing from the TV filling the background. He had just made a major life decision in a span of a couple minutes that he knew would change the course of his entire life. But as he sits and now has time to think about it, he knows he has made the right decision.
DB: "This is the right thing to do, Dustin, you know it is. Wrestling...wrestling is a HUGE part of my life, but this is the exact type of BIG positive thing I need to do to really get through to people just how great the 'Good Beaver' movement really is..."
Dustin then feels sick all of a sudden.
DB: "Ugh, how am I going to tell Godnilla?"
Tuesday August 23rd, 7:35 am
Dustin Beaver sits in an office chair at the desk of Liam Gagnon, head trainer at 'The 6 Wrestling School'. Gags sits in his fine black leather office chair across from Beaver, tapping at some keys on his computer. Beavs is nervous about what he has to tell the man he looks up to like a father, but he's ready to make the move.
DB: "So boss, I have some...news for you."
Gags moves his head around his computer screen to look at Dustin.
Gags: "Oh yeah, what's that, kid? Is it about your match this week?"
Beaver looks down at the desk.
DB: "Um not exactly, Gags, I um, this...this upcoming match will be my last match for awhile."
Gags stares curiously at Beavs.
Gags: "And why the hell is that? You hurt or something?"
Dustin shakes his head side to side.
DB: "No boss, I got a call from my agent last night. He offered me the opportunity to go help people in need overseas, and I really want to do it. Something like that is exactly what I need to show people that I'm serious about making the world a better place."
Beaver expected the old, gruff trainer to begin yelling at him and calling him every name in the book. But Gags just nods slowly, smirking at Beavs.
Gags: "Wow kid, I mean, what do I say to that?! Is this the same Dustin Beaver that just randomly decided to become a wrestler a year ago? And now you actually thought seriously about something and you want to do something to actually help the world become a better place?! I mean, just, wow."
Dustin quickly interjects.
DB: "Look boss, if you think this is dumb I can just tell my agent the whole thing is off and..."
Gags silences Beaver by putting his hand up in the air.
Gags: "No Beavs, quite the opposite. I think it's a great idea and I think it could greatly benefit your outlook of the world. Listen, you've been at the wrestling game for a year now and you've come a LONG way but this...this is something you may not get the chance to do again. And it really sounds like something that could end up with you helping a lot of people who need the help."
Dustin exhales, relieved that someone else saw it his way.
Gags: "Have you told anyone else about this yet?"
Beaver shakes his head side to side.
DB: "Not yet, I'm still...getting around to it."
Gags chuckles.
Gags: "Well I'll call the UCI brass and let them know what's going on. But you should probably get ahold of your tag partner, right? I think he'll be very interested in this news."
Beavs swallows a lump that had formed in his throat.
DB: "Yeah, I'll get on that...right now."
Dustin stands up slowly and trudges out of Gags' office, afraid of what he has to do next. Beaver goes just out of the front door and pulls out his cell phone. He scrolls to Wade's name, staring at it for just a moment before hitting the green phone button. The phone rings two times, with Beavs hoping that the Leviathan doesn't answer so that he can just deal with it later, but on the third ring the other end picks up.
WM: "Dusty! What's up, bro?! Why you calling so damn early?!?"
Dustin pauses momentarily while trying to find words.
DB: "Wade! Uh yeah, sorry to call so damn early, I just have some...news I need to share with you."
The other end is quiet for a moment.
WM: "Our last match together is this weekend, isn't it?"
Beaver's eyes go wide with shock.
DB: "Yeah, how the hell did you know?! But no, my nilla, it's not like that at all..."
Moor laughs.
WM: "Listen bruh, I woke up this morning, WAY the hell earlier than normal. And as I looked around, something just felt...off. I know things haven't been normal lately, but this feeling, it felt like part of me was trying to escape, trying to go somewhere else."
DB: "You know it's funny that you say that, my agent called me last night with this crazy opportunity. He said that a company wants to sponsor me to go to Africa and the Middle East to help with relief work, like rebuilding cities and handing out food and crazy stuff like that! And I actually want to do it, Wade! Like this thing is exactly what I need to get people to really buy into the 'Good Beaver' movement and take me trying to make the world a better place seriously!"
There's a pause on the other end before Wade responds.
WM: "I've told you a million times before, but you make me proud, Dusty. No way in a million years did I think that the boy I knew in #beachkrew would aspire to do something like this one day."
DB: "Aw thanks brother, and I really do know that this is the right thing to do for me."
WM: "And I would agree, have you told anyone else yet?"
DB: "Just my trainer, he's going to talk to the UCI people for me to let them know this Sunday will be my last match and then I'll leave on Monday to fly overseas."
WM: "Have you called and told your parents? I know you're not huge fans of them but I'm sure they'd like to know...speaking of which, I forgot to ask you. What is the problem you have with your parents?"
It didn't take Beaver long to think about the reason.
DB: "Because they're boring, Wade! They've lived in the same house forever, they do the same boring things day after day, never taking a chance on anything ever in their lives! I'm not like that, I'm nothing like them."
WM: "But they're good people, Dusty. They want to see you succeed and they're proud of everything you've ever done, prouder than you could imagine. Listen, I'm not saying that you have to be like them, but they care about you and you wouldn't be who you are today if it wasn't for them."
Beavs looks down at the cement below him, he knows that Wade is absolutely right.
DB: "Damn you and you're being the voice of reason, bruh. Fine, I'll give them a ring. You still ready to beat some asses this Sunday at Meltdown?!"
Moor laughs again, the laugh that always brought a smile to Beaver's face.
WM: "Dusty, I'm always ready to beat some asses. We'll fight harder than we ever have before, brother. I'll talk to you again soon."
DB: "Bye, Wade"
With that Beavs his the red phone button and navigated to his parent's number. Without hesitation, Dustin hit the green phone button. After only one ring, the other end picked up.
: "Hello?"
DB:"...hi Mom."
Monday August 23rd, 4:45 pm
After chatting with his parents and getting in a full training day at 'The 6', Beaver stands hanging over the ropes of the main training ring at the facility.
Gags: "Good stuff today, kid. You're making it look like you've been doing this shit for years. That's the kind of training I expect out of you all week, with this being your last wrestling week for awhile and all."
Beavs towels some sweat off his face.
DB: "Yup, nothing less than the best from me, boss!"
Gags holds his finger up.
Gags: "Oh and I almost forgot to tell you. When I talked to the UCI people earlier today they told me your match for Meltdown. It's gonna be you and Wade in the co-main event against Andre Holmes and Jack "The Crack" Schlongson, quite the name am I right?!"
Dustin laughs.
DB: "Yeah that is. Well I hope my boy, Holmes and...The Crack are ready to be broken this weekend because Godnilla and I are showing no fucking mercy this week!"
Gags: "Damn right, Beavs! Alright, hit the showers, we'll pick up where we left off tomorrow."
Beaver drops his towel to the floor.
DB: "Actually if it's alright with you, I'm going to go cut a quick promo. Is the room open?"
Gags nodded.
Gags: "Should be, give 'em hell, kid!"
Beavs jumps down off the ring apron.
DB: "I always do, boss!"
Dustin walks down the back hallway of 'The 6' towards what he fondly calls 'The Blue Room'. Beaver opens the door, revealing the furniture and camera equipment sitting, ready to go. The metallic blue walls cover everything in the room in a blueish hue. Beavs sets everything up like he had done many times before and then sits in the chair staring ahead into the camera that has already began recording.
DB: "Hey there, Beavlievers, it's your Supreme Beavliever coming at you live from 'The 6 Wrestling School' here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Getting ready for another big match this weekend, as myself and Godnilla himself, Wade Moor, will take on the team of Andre Holmes and Jack "The Crack" Scholongson in the co-main event at Meltdown, coming to you live Sunday from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona!"
Beaver looks down at the ground for a moment before looking back up at the camera.
DB: "Something has come up though, and well, there's no easy way to say this, Beavlievers...This will be my last wrestling match for quite sometime."
Beavs holds up a hand to the camera.
DB: "But don't you worry, gang, I'm temporarily stepping away from the squared circle for a totally noble cause! I will be continuing my 'Good Beaver' movement mission over in Africa and the Middle East for the next several months, helping people rebuild their lives. Now I think we can all agree, it doesn't get much more positive than that!"
Dustin pauses for a moment, holding back some emotion.
DB: "It's been a wild ride for over a year now, and I want to thank each and every one of you out there who ever supported me in whatever I did. I can't put into words how much it's meant to have the support from all of my Beavlievers each and every time I step into the ring."
Beaver holds up a finger to the camera.
DB: "But let's not forget, you get to see the Great Beaver one more time before the next phase of my journey, so let's talk about Wade and I's opponents for this weekend."
Beavs chuckles before beginning.
DB: "Heh, let's start with the person not as well known to me in Jack "The Crack" Schlongson. Now Jack might not think that I know his story but I in fact no it quite well. And I actually applaud Jack for finally getting his opportunity to wrestle in UCI when that other organization wouldn't even give him the time of day."
Dustin nods to the camera.
DB: "Yeah in fact, he's been quite good, a win and a draw, not bad. But Mr. Schlongson's first loss comes this week."
Beaver rubs his chin in contemplation.
DB: "You see, I know Jack that wrestling was not your first choice of profession. Hell, the gay pornography business wasn't your first choice of career either! I know, what you talk about and the way you say things, I guarantee you that you wanted to be a big time actor."
Beavs runs his fingers through his hair.
DB: "Yeah, you wanted to be that big star that everyone goes out to the theater to see. But at some point, you gave up. You let something get in your way and you let circumstance run over and crush your hopes and dreams."
Dustin points at himself.
DB: "That's the difference between you and I, Jack, when the going gets tough, you fold like a cheap suit. Dustin Beaver? I've overcome obstacles my whole life. I've never given up on anything, only moving on when I've achieved my goals and needed to move on to the next big thing."
Beaver points at the camera.
DB: "So while you're going to be out there splitting time between getting pounded in front of a camera or getting pounded in a wrestling ring, I'm going to be halfway across the world, making a positive difference in people's lives."
Beavs punches his fist into his open hand.
DB: "Yeah, I've already been at this wrestling thing for sometime, pickup up big wins and titles along the way. Beating you is the last goal I have in wrestling for right now and unlike you, I'm not going to let myself down, I'm not going to let the millions of Beavlievers around the world down."
Dustin laughs.
DB: "And if you don't know how tough the Great Beaver can be, look no further than your tag partner, Andre Holmes! Now I know Andre's done some big things since the days of the old organization, but I've seen Andre beat. I've seen Andre firsthand go down and out when Dustin Beaver was in the match."
Beaver's face becomes more serious.
DB: "Andre wants to constantly talk about how he's the "good guy" and he's out there fighting for himself and his family. That's his problem right there, Andre Holmes is all about Andre Holmes."
Beavs adjusts his sitting position to lean in towards the camera more.
DB: "Tell me Andre, why the hell would the people out there want to cheer for you when you do nothing but self service? Sure, you do some flashy moves every now and then..."
Dustin makes "ooh" and "ah" faces at the camera.
DB: "But when it comes down to it, you're here to pick up a paycheck and cut and run as soon as you can."
Beaver again points at the camera, more venom now in his voice.
DB: "You know NOTHING about what the fans really want, the good guy they deserve to have. They want someone who's willing to go out there and not just entertain them but actually make a difference in people's lives, someone who can use their wrestling talent to influence positivity."
Beavs points towards his chest.
DB: "That's who I am. That's what I do. Every time I step in that ring, I motivate people to want to become better, to make more of themselves. I do this so well in fact that I have to take the movement across the world and help people that are desperately in need of some positivity in their lives."
Dustin again points back towards the camera, boiling over with rage at this point.
DB: "And who the hell are you to change that, Andre Holmes?! Jack Schlongson? Nobodies! I've already talked to Wade about my situation and he's more fired up than I am to just beat your asses in the middle of our ring and leave you broken like so many of our past foes!"
Beaver calms down a little and adjusts his position again.
DB: "Sunday August 28th, 2016 is the last day you will see Dustin Beaver in a wrestling ring for quite awhile. Win or lose I'm going to Africa and the Middle East to continue to spread that 'Good Beaver' all over the world, bringing light to people's lives. Win or lose, I'm leaving my heart and soul in that wrestling ring in Phoenix, Arizona, leaving no doubt that Dustin Beaver is one of the best wrestlers in the world. Beav-Moor will always be a tag team to be reckoned with and the Leviathan and I are going to show Holmes and Scholongson exactly why, you can...BEAVLIEVE THAT."
Beavs winks at the camera.
DB: "And don't worry, you WILL see me again one day. All you have to do is...BEAVLIEVE!"
