••You may think you know all there is to L Verez, but trust me, my friends… this is only the very beginning!°°
~~~
{Shoot Pt. 1}
L Verez sits atop a large, odd shaped building, colored in what looks to be blood orange and gold like colors. The materials are most definitely “Not of this World”. She's in her usual meditation like position, with her Hypermedia Championship resting on her lap. The seemingly night sky calms her mind before she heads to one of biggest matches yet.
It seems that I have been forgiven by Spencer Adams, as I am in the Civil War match, and my Hypermedia Title is not up for grabs. I wouldn’t have minded. As I’ve said many of times, I am always willing to put this title on the line if it meant proving that I am, indeed, worthy of this championship. Instead, it is Hippo Harry’s Television Title that is up for grabs in this match, but only for our opposing team. But now, it seems that I have a chance at the ultimate prize. The UCI World Heavyweight Championship. A title that currently belongs to my comrade, Preecha Kamon. A comrade I don’t much want to go up against, but I know that I must, in order to become the best of the best in UCI. But I have a ways to go before I can face the likes of Preecha Kamon. At Civil War, I team up with “Hippo” Harry Diderot and Payaso Loco to face Corey Black, Karlie Nash, and James Cross of Gold Standard. This is no ordinary tag team match, however. In fact, it isn’t even an ordinary elimination tag match. This match continues until there is only one competitor left standing, and I am more than determined to guarantee that I am the one to battle for the UCI World Heavyweight Championship.
This, however, will be one of my most difficult tasks yet, as my first shot at the World Title hunt should be. I must go into this knowing that my allies will become my enemies, but at the same time knowing that to have a better chance at winning, we must first take out the other team. The difference of mindsets throughout the minds of each individual will make for a very difficult, yet interesting bout.
As you all know, picking the minds of individuals is my forte, so let’s get to that, shall we? I’ll start with one of my adversaries, El Payaso Loco. I’m unsure if I’ve ever mentioned my utmost respect for luchadors. Their mask wearing tradition, and their everlasting innovation with just how much they add to the wrestling industry’s high flying encyclopedia. This can be both a strength and a weakness. While this leads to unconventional offense that’s hard to predict, it is also very high risk, with the reward being, quite literally, hit or miss. This chaotic style has brought him success, as well as failure. It has given him the positive reputation and won him championships in the past.
Recently, however, he hasn’t exactly gotten too much success, has he? Maybe if he wouldn’t be so reckless in the win, he would have actually won against Zombie McMorris, instead of going to a draw. He’s also recently returned, looking to win some gold, but he’s not had much luck with that. This encounter will be no different. His large risks will not grant him the big reward he is looking for. He’ll continue to sink, but only after he’s help granted team L Verez the successful victory against Team Bull. But afterwards, his fate is a graceful Celestial Descent.
Now… someone I’ve faced recently. James Cross. I had a feeling our encounter last week wouldn’t be our last, but I didn’t think we would meet again so soon. This is just another example of Spencer handing undeserving people opportunities that they do not deserve. A faction of three couldn’t even defeat one person that almost half their size, and now one of them has a shot to win the TV Title, as well as become #1 contender to our UCI’s World Title? While I still don’t condone some of the actions of my fellow Guardians, I have to admit that they have the right to be upset about this situation.
However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that I have already defeated Cross, and his Gold Standard adversaries, all in one match. I have to assume this has at least torn his ego a good amount, if not completely ripped it apart altogether. The human mind can’t handle losing such a large amount of pride like that. The greatest part to his inclusion in the match, however, is his team leader, Corey Bull. This is someone he’s wanted to face, and now he will get to see first hand just what he has to go through when going up against the Hatebringer. Once he realizes just how in over his head he is, he may just tuck his tail and run back off to the independent circuit.
The “Hollow Sphere” glows and alerts from L’s pocket. She retrieves it, and realizes the next task she must attend to.
I have much more on my mind, UCI Universe, but as I am the Hypermedia Champion, and the Protector of the Universe, I do have a lot on my plate, so I must bid you all adieu. We shall continue this at another time. L Verez waves her hand over to reveal that the teleporter was beneath her this entire time. Purple rings hover around her, and she slowly fades into disappearance...
Chicago, Illinois - The Drunken Dragon - November 15th, 2017
~~WHOOSH~~
~~WHOOSH~~
The teleporter appears just a street down from the Drunken Dragon. As the purple rings become visible, L, Wade, Zima, and Vincent do as well. Vincent, who is currently a bit queazy, is not narrating this time, as he feels shoving a camera in everyone’s faces while they are still grieving someone’s loss may not be very appropriate. He has, however, brought a notepad with him to take notes, incase any of the Guardian members bring up any sort of wrestling strategies that he could possibly use against his brother Allen Walker. The other three have simply arrived to keep spirits lifted.
Vincent: Eugh… Why do you seem to always teleport us a street away from our destination, when you could just simply take us right there? This seems a bit counter intuitive.
L Verez: I like walks, Vin! They’re good for exercise, and they allow us to take some down time before going about our business. Besides, I prefer politely knocking, rather than just rudely appearing out of nowhere.
Vincent: Well, I guess that makes sense. I just don’t very much like having to walk after teleporting throughout the bloody Universe.
Zima’Ion: I will never understand why you’re the only one that has trouble with L’s teleporter. I have a weak immune system, and even I do well with it.
Vincent: I’m not sure. Maybe it’s sentient and has it out for me.
L Verez: The Universe may never know!
They near the bar Alex Richards owns. They stop for a moment, knowing that Wade hasn’t been around his companions too often as of late.
Wade: All is well and good, L. I just anticipate seeing my good friends after my hiatus.
L Verez: Fantastic! Let’s get to it then, shall we?
As Wade and Zima move forward, L stops Vincent for a moment.
Vincent: What is it, L? L Verez: I understand the only reason you’re here is to strategize against Allen. I just don’t want you to focus too much on this. We’re here for positive vibes over anything else.
Vince looks at the notepad, with an obviously large amount of things running through his brain.
L and Vince move ahead with their friends. L knocks on the door, and instantly, her big, ginger bearded companion opens the door, towering over her.
And just like that, he traps L in a big bear hug. Unfortunately, his big stature seems to be blocking the others from entering the bar.
Alex, still holding L, recognizes the voice he hears, and looks towards Wade’s direction.
Wade: I’ve had better times, but the waves of life continue. I figured I’d come by before my presence becomes forgotten.
Vincent: Oh. We actually get to go in. I thought the bouncer would have kicked us out by now.
Alex goes back in the bar, still carrying his small alien friend. Once inside, the Guardians leader, Bonnie Blue sparks up as soon as she eyes Wade. She runs over, punching him before embracing him with a hug.
Wade: Well, if you allow me to explain without anymore punches, you may be able to understand…
While those two converse, Alex finally puts L down after bringing her over to the bar itself, Zima and Vince right behind them.
Vincent: Absolutely not.
Zima’Ion: Well, I can’t drink it with this mask…
L Verez grabs her seemingly glass boot from out of nowhere.
Alex: That’s why you’re my Disciple of Strange!
As Alex pours himself and L some Zim-Quilla, Damian Kaine, who seems to have a chip on his shoulder, walks up to the group. L has a bit of a concerned look when she notices his presence.
L Verez: Well, all I did what announce my open challenge match, but yeah, you guys were very involved.
Damian: Did you hear that crowd though? They were on fire when they heard your music hit!
L Verez: Yes indeed. I appreciated that very much…
Damian notices L’s posture and facial expression. He realizes that something isn’t right.
L Verez: Well… I understand your frustration, and I get that you’ve been upset with Spencer as of late, but don’t you think using your powers the way you did was a bit much?
Damian: Wait. Let me get this straight. McMorris can get fucking impaled, use his intestines to choke people out, snort a line of cocaine, and the fucker can’t even die. That’s all fine. You can use technology that can’t even be accessed in this damn galaxy, and everything is all good and dandy, but as soon as I decide to take advantage of abilities that are natural to me, it’s a problem?
L Verez: No, I don’t think using your powers in general is a problem, Damian. It’s the way you used your abilities that had me concerned. You put people in danger. People almost fell into that fissure.
Damian: But they didn’t. I made sure of that. My target was Zombie. And that’s the son of a bitch that fell in the damn thing.
L Verez: I’m just not sure if that’s the type of thing that will change the way Spencer treats us Guardians.
Damian: Well, it better! I’m sick and tired of him treating us like a side act. We’ve done beyond what anyone else. Though, you wouldn’t know much about that, being our new member and all. You just don’t get the shit we’ve been through to get here!
L stops talking for a bit, wondering if this is yet another doppelganger situation. She doesn’t notice any issues with his frequencies, however, but she doesn’t feel like she’s talking to the same Damian Kaine she knew… or thought she knew. Damian notices the way L is analyzing him, irritating him even more.
Alex notices the commotion, surprisingly enough with how much he’s already had to drink, and interjects.
L Verez: Positive vibes…
Alex: There we go! That! So, can we be cool, dudes?
L Verez: I’m not upset with you Damian. Just a bit concerned.
Damian: Yeah, whatever. It’s cool. Don’t worry about me.
Damian Kaine walks off, a bit annoyed at this point. L remains concerned, looking towards Alex.
Alex: Not that I noticed. Don’t worry about it, L. I’ll talk to him.
Alex walks over to Damian to calm him down. A bit downed, L wanders the bar for a bit, until she notices Preecha and his new translator, Trinity Hayashi. L walks over to the world champion, who is currently blinded, while inconveniently already deaf.
Trinity: I don’t know how well you will do, but you can see.
L sees that Preecha isn’t in the best mood. To the shock of Trinity, L gently grabs Preecha’s hands, which shocks him as well, and begins to tactile sign to him.
Preecha: You surprised me for a second there. I'm not used to tactile sign language that isn't from one of my assigned translators. I'm afraid I'm not doing so well, however. Aside from winning the world title, I've not had the best of luck.
L Verez: That intruder was the one that blinded you. Corey Black. I wish I were there to stop him before he was able to blind you like that.
Preecha: Do not blame yourself, friend. You needed to recover after your match against him.
L Verez: It's almost like he's out to get us. But at least I brought the title to the Guardians. I'm confident you will defeat Corey Black.
Preecha: Do you feel it was worth it?
L Verez: What do you mean?
Preecha: Winning your title. Was it worth it? Corey Black had dealt a lot of damage to you, and had antagonized you. You're almost fully healed, and already you must defend your belt. I just want to know your thoughts on this.
L Verez: Well, I definitely think it was worth it. I've proven all my doubters wrong when I defeated him. Yes, it'll be difficult to defend it, but I always persevere. I believe I'll have a good reign until a worthy competitor snags it off of me. Why do you ask?
Preecha: It's almost like a curse, me winning the world title. When the match neared, I lost my friend. Now I'm here blinded, and have to face the man that caused it.
L Verez: Now you get to pay him back for what he did.
Preecha: You misunderstand. That's not what I'm upset about. I just feel a lot more negativity was brought to this title than positivity. I'm supposed to feel pride, but all I have now is sadness.
L tries to hold back her tears as she feels and reads the tactile signings of her comrade. She can tell by the look on Preecha’s face that his emotions are very genuine.
Preecha: You don't need to apologize.
L Verez: No, I'm sorry for the way we started off. The Shade. I kept it from you guys when I shouldn't have.
Preecha: I've already forgiven you for this, L. In hindsight, I realized how much you were going through, and that you did not want to upset your new comrades. If anything, I should apologize for my reaction.
L Verez: That's unnecessary. We've grown since then, I feel.
Preecha: I agree…}
Preecha stops for a moment, his face a bit dark.
L braces for her inevitable tears. Suddenly, a vague flash flew through her mind of her on a cliff, trying to save someone from falling off, but failing in the end. She comes to, and Preecha signs to her once more.
L Verez: No, it wasn't you. I have to go though.
Preecha: Hopefully, on a more positive note next time, yes?
L Verez: Positive vibes always, my friend!}
L bows to Preecha before letting go of his hands. Afterwards, she bows to Trinity, and walks back over to Vincent and Zima'Ion. The scene fades into the next…
Flashback - L and Armand
The flashback keeps us within the Drunken Dragon, but back when they were discussing the Shade that had attacked Zima’Ion, and sided with the Society. L and Armand are conversing after the meeting has already ended.
L Verez: Thank you. And don't worry. I expected this sort of backlash.
Armand: I have a feeling it won't be as much of an issue as you may presume.
L Verez: How so?
Armand puts his hands in his pockets and shrugs.
He looks toward his friend with a regretful face.
L Verez: He has you as well!
Armand: Oh, but I'm an old man, and I'm not getting any younger.
L Verez: You still have many years left, my friend.
Armand: Friend? We've just barely met.
L Verez: You bring positive vibes. It’s almost calming to me. You have a very friendly vibe about you.
Armand laughs a bit at L’s response.
L Verez: That isn’t a bad thing, is it?
Armand: Not at all, my dear. It adds character, which you seem to have a lot of.
Armand looks at his watch, then back at L.
L Verez: How did you…?
Armand: Another hunch, I guess. Well, go on now. Don’t let me keep you.
L gives Armand a curious look before making her way, as the flashback fades.
L’s Headquarters - A distant galaxy…
I finally have my camera back. I’m surprised Limbo didn’t float off with it. I, Vincent Walker, have returned as the one true biographer for L Verez. For some odd reason, however, L has told me not to share this footage anywhere. It’s kind of redundant for me to record any of this, but I do miss doing this. I’ll most likely delete this afterwards. Back to business, L, Zima, and I are all at her headquarters, but she has a bit of a surprise for us, apparently. This is an area I am unfamiliar with. It’s quite dark, and there’s a big door in front of us.
Oh, yay. More secrets. Fun.
L Verez: You’ll understand why once I open this door. I’ve kept this for a very long time, but I trust you two.
Let’s have at it then, shall we?
L nods and waves her hand over the door. It opens, and immediately, we see glowing grass like ground outside of it. Once we step out, there are a ton of extremely large, and very odd shaped buildings. We’re finally seeing what L’s home planet looks like… Her base is quite large as well… larger than most of these buildings, actually! I believe it’s larger than a stadium! A very odd shaped, odd colored stadium. It looks to mainly be colored with blood orange and golden tones. Don’t even ask me to describe the materials, because that task is quite impossible. Wait a second… the ground… the sky… are we…?
L Verez: Good eye, you two! Yes, my home planet is the Quartex.
Where are all the Brights? Why is it darker here? Why do we always teleport here, if we live here?
Zima’Ion: So these other buildings, the people that live here… they’re the share your same species?
L nods at Zima’Ion. My brain is melting at this point.
Gods, it’s like living in a world of gaming addicts.
L obliges, and the walk begins. I’m just glad we didn’t have to teleport beforehand. There’s no streets, it seems. Just glowing grass, and buildings. Many, many, odd shaped, odd colored buildings. The building collection ends, however, as we see what look like a forest of glowing trees.
That may explain why Zima’s eyebrow is raised…
So why do we see the land in a sense of what our brains can comprehend, but not the buildings?
?: That’s an answer you will never obtain.
Oh bollocks… we turn around to see a Shade. L immediately throws some sort of sphere at my and Zima’s direction, creating some sort of forcefield around us.
L Verez: What do you want from us? You’ve been antagonizing us for long enough.
It shapeshifts into a humanesque shape, and steps closer to L.
Don’t tell me it switched from being a member of the Society to joining this 15 fiasco.
Shade: Use your ears. Keep your memories secure. If you continue to overdue everything, your end will come sooner, rather than later.
Bloody bollocks risen from hell! He’s shrouding around us violently!… but then he’s dispersed. L turns off the forcefield, and she doesn’t look very happy.
{Shoot Pt. 2}
L Verez returns, sitting atop the large chimney like top of the very large building she was at before. This time, she has a more serious look on her face, and a light of fire flaring in her eyes. Her Hypermedia Championship wrapped around her left shoulder and right side.
L gives a wink as she turns her attention to the next competitor.
But Bishop's manipulation of the mind pales in comparison to my manipulation of the joints. I may be the smallest competitor in this match, but I have proven multiple times that a strategic mindset can overcome a size disadvantage. There is no doubt in my mind that Bull will plow through us for a good majority of the match. His brute strength and pure aggression have brought him much success in the past. But here in UCI, the light surpassed the darkness, and the dark fades into non-existence.
Last, but not least, Karlie Nash. My dear rival, how our battles never seem to end. But you lack something that you previously had when we last faced. Your drive. Your focus. You've fallen, Nash. Not that you rose very high, but this has been your biggest opportunity in a while, and it doesn't even seem like you care. What happened? Do you not care for wrestling the way you cared for hockey? Have you stopped trying altogether?
Maybe it's all those women you fall for. Maybe you care more about lust, rather than the fight. Admit it, Karlie, you've pushed UCI to the wayside for your selfish human desires. I bet the only reason you even show up anymore is to get your paycheck every week. Any amount of steam that you once has has dissipated. You're a shell of your former self. Whatever happened to your mean streak? Whatever happened to you actually fighting to win? Battling for success? Now you just run around with women you don't even know, just because your eyes get drawn to them as quick as my teleporter. I guess it's up to me to remind you of what it means to be a true fighter. What it means to be a champion. A warrior! I'm gonna knock that sense of drive right back into your mental system. Maybe then you'll find some success, and maybe some happiness along the way.
L stands up, walking over to the corner of the building. She dives down, until her hovercraft appears for her to land on. She then sits cross legged on the craft, as if she never even moved. She removes the straps from her belt, and holds it high.
At Civil War, I prove once again why I hold this title. I prove why I am the next top star in UCI. I will continue to leave my mark, and make history. I will continue to defy the odds and shut the mouths of the non-believers. I am the Protector of the Universe, I am the Hypermedia Champion, and I will become the number contender for the UCI World Heavyweight Championship!
