“United we stand, divided we fall.”
-John Dickinson
We open to a feed of the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, sadness all around as if it was ripped from one of those late night “Please help African children” commercials, Kevin Bishop steps into view his hair slicked back wearing a United Heart t-shirt, a black sportcoat, black slacks, and black dress shoes. Kevin walks down a road with the flood behind him and he starts to talk to the camera.
“UCI, I didn't want to stand here toting my World title around, because the events here in Texas and the events happening in Florida are bigger than championships and wrestling. I spoke recently at Overload about bringing my Brotherhood down here to see what we can do to help and it has been heartwarming to see what our loyal fans have been able to do to help. Buying the t-shirts was only half the attempt, I've seen so many show up down here wearing the shirts and claiming that The Brotherhood being here helped encourage them to do the same. Many were shocked to see ‘The Mad King’ hop in to assist people in trouble…”
Kevin shrugs.
“I get it… I really do. I've played the bad man for so long, but truth of the matter is, I've also stood with my People as their champion for just as long. I am a man who leads by an example and I knew if this bad man was willing to give a hand then others would as well. I even noticed one of our new hires threw a lot of money to Florida and our United Heart cause here as well. I appreciate his offering, but I buck back by saying, how about you put your money with your mouth is and step up to the front lines like my Brotherhood? It's easy to sit upon your ivory tower and toss money at problems but it's another thing to roll the sleeves up.”
Bishop notices some UCI wrestlers helping people off to the right of him, all wearing United Heart t-shirts.
“Even moments of despair can bring the most bitter of rivals together… No one would imagine in a million years that one week Bonnie and I were at each other's throats… Now her and her Guardians are lending a hand… Alex Richards is a man who defied death and now he's telling jokes to children to help keep their minds off the turmoil around them. L is signing milk jugs, not sure what that's about, but the people are crazy about it. Bonnie Blue is assisting people with what they're going to do with their future to get themselves back on track… Pretty fitting for the time witch I'd say.”
Kevin winks at the camera.
“United… That's what we are showing the world that we are capable of in this harsh time. No matter our allegiance and no matter our beliefs… In the end we are all humans.”
M.A.X. walks by carrying a wet black lab puppy and Kevin shrugs.
“For the most part… But still we are indeed here to look out for animals and humans alike. United Heart is stretching and growing… From here we go to Florida. Continue to support our efforts and UCI will put forth that very same effort… I may be able to get Thor to match all your contributions since he's so strapped.”
Kevin smiles.
“We are UCI… And we share a United Heart. So if you want to join us in our efforts, please continue to buy the merch and continue to donate to the site you see at the bottom of your screens. I know our people appreciate anything we are willing to offer. Thank you UCI faithful and my Brotherhood kingdom.”
Kevin places his left index finger on the center of the United Heart and taps.
“Thank you.”
The cameras cut from the commercial and Kevin is approached by Karma who is beginning to show off a little baby bump.
“It came out great honey.”
“Yeah?”
Karma nods gleefully.
“Such strength of character as you spoke to the masses… It really took me back, babe.”
Kevin smiles lightly.
“Yeah, it felt good to be in their light again… Such dark times plagued us, but now as their Champion once again, this truly representing this company… I don't know, it just feels right.”
Karma chuckles.
“The Mad King with a heart, eh?”
Kevin rolls his eyes.
“The Mad King is behind me, but I do still have a kingdom to rule over and loyal Brotherhood members all around the world who need my guidance once again. I turned my back and I lost dear friends and family… I will not put anyone out again, I guarantee that.”
Karma hangs her head a bit, taking her eyes away from Kevin’s.
“Our past is a haunting one, Kevin… No one sees how you could forgive me for all I did… How evil it was and how unmerciful I was in my approach…”
Kevin slowly lifts her head with his left hand under her chin.
“You are my wife and yes the evils of this world and the next aimed to rip us apart… The Dark Queen and The Creeping Death are all but silenced and we have a brighter future to look to.”
Kevin lowers his hand down to Karma's baby bump and he smiles.
“I know honey… I just… What if they come back? What if they come after our baby?”
Karma’s stomach churns and Kevin embraces her.
“We are stronger now than we ever were before… They don't have any power over us or our baby… I WON’T ALLOW IT.”
Kevin looks down to Karma and she slightly smiles.
“You're not nervous about the baby?”
Kevin shrugs.
“As long as we stay united… Our baby has the two of us to help him welcome this world.”
Karma playfully pushes Kevin away.
“Wait a second, how do you know it's not a girl?”
Kevin playfully smiles.
“Heh, i just a have feeling.”
Karma punches Kevin in the stomach lightly.
“You better hope it's a girl… Happy wife equals happy life.”
Kevin smiles and kisses her.
“Of course my dear.”
The two hug for a second before Zander skids his Uber onto the scene. Zander quickly steps out of the car looking like he's lost a bit of weight wearing a pair of aviator sunglasses, a blue and orange hockey jersey, boot cut blue jeans, and black boots.
“Kev, how's it going mang?”
Kevin nods.
“How's it going Hollywood?”
Zander looks at his clothes and smiles.
“What? Oh this? It's just a little something my new lady threw together.”
Karma points to Zander’s hair.
“Did she spike your hair?”
Zander shrugs.
“Yeah, she said it accentuates my good features.”
Kevin looks to Karma and he chuckles before looking back to Zander.
“Well you're lookin good man… now when do we get to meet this new lady of yours?”
Zander dodges a bit.
“Well she’s pretty busy, being a hand model in Canada of course… But no worries, I'm sure we can all find time after your next title defense.”
“Just gotta knock out that Biff Mustache and then your lady can join us for our celebration.”
Zander gives a thumbs up.
“Sounds good mang, now where do I need to hop in to help down here?”
Kevin looks around and he sees some teens looking extremely bored.
“Those kids could use a serious trip to a mall or something. Mind Ubering them out of town away from all this?”
Zander nods and Kevin hands him a stack of $20s.
“They need to stop thinking about all this destruction for a bit… Help them brother.”
“Will do champ.”
Zander walks off and speaks to the kids causing them all to cheer for joy. Everyone quickly runs to Zander’s Uber and Kevin looks to Karma.
“Zander is staying busy… Have you heard from your brother?”
"Sean just landed in Clear Water… I'm sure he'll have an update sooner rather than later.”
Kevin nods.
“Alrighty… Well I need to get some promo time in… Even with all this going on, I best not forget about my 1st opponent after winning my World title, right?”
“You have a point… Who do you have this week? And where are we flying to?”
“Beijing, China and I have to fight a deaf kick boxer named Preecha Kamon…”
Karma looks a bit confused.
“Really?”
“That's what I've… heard. Heh.”
Karma shrugs.
“Well I suppose that helps him stay focused on the task at hand…”
“So you're saying that gives him an edge?”
“Well not that it matters babe, you're the World champion for a reason. I'm just saying you may need to approach this guy a bit different is all.”
Kevin rubs his beard a bit.
“You're right… I know I can go kick for kick with him… Not even his manager is going to be a difference maker.”
Karma smiles wide as if something just came to her.
“I know how you can make him hear you…”
“Oh yeah?”
Fade out as the two talk out of earshot.
“How do you kill a man without fear?” -Kingpin
“You put the fear in him…” -Bullseye
-Daredevil Movie
We open to Kevin Bishop sitting in front of a camera dressed in his all black Johnny Cash-esque attire with his title around his waist and he holds a stack of white cards on his lap. He stares emotionless into the camera and all around him is silence as if the camera was placed on mute.
Kevin holds up an index finger and he lifts the 1st card to the camera.
It reads: “Hello UCI and my opponent this week Preecha Kamon.”
Kevin waves at the camera before lifting the next card.
It reads: “Words have a certain effect on the world and I hope it carries weight with you sir.”
Kevin slowly pulls the next card up.
It reads: “A man who is stuck in his own head all the time, it has to be tough.”
Kevin shakes his head and shows concern to Preecha before pulling the next card up.
It reads: “You seem to not let your handicap effect which I respect wholeheartedly.”
Kevin points to his heart and nods. Next card.
It reads: “I also respect your competitive spirit…”
Kevin’s head tilts a bit and he pauses before pulling out the next card.
It reads: “Your courage in and out of the ring. You have heart, man.”
Kevin nods, pulls out the next card.
It reads: “But that only gets you so far. So you rely on your determination…”
Kevin bobs his head back and forth tossing that idea around. Next card.
It reads: “Fine I'll give you that one… But I understand determination just as well sir.”
Kevin shows himself off and pulls out another card.
It reads: “The struggle was real and I became the die hard competitive Champion you see before you.”
Kevin pats his title and pulls the next card out.
It reads: “Hard work and determination got me here… Fear of failure got me here… What do you fear, Preecha?”
Kevin waits for an answer cupping his ear and then he smirks. Next card.
It reads: “I suppose you fear what you can't hear coming? If you don't, you really should…”
Kevin pulls the next card out.
It reads: “Maybe if you knew your surroundings better you would've won in your triple threat last week…”
Next card.
It reads: “If you heard Payaso stumbling in, you could've stopped him from getting taken out by Kaz…”
Kevin shrugs and pulls the next card out.
It reads: “You have a handicap and I'm going to prove it's your weakness… Not your upper hand.”
Kevin slowly shakes his left index finger in front of the camera before pulling out the next card.
It reads: “One Black Death…”
Kevin holds up his left index finger to display a one. Next card.
It reads: “That's all it takes and you will see black…”
Kevin snaps his fingers knowing Preecha can't hear it but he'll get the idea. Next card.
It reads: “I am THEE UCI World Heavyweight Champion and you are just another competitor who will bow in my kingdom…”
Next card.
It reads: “I came back for competition and to prove my dominance…”
Next card.
It reads: “Bring all that you have Preecha…”
Kevin shakes his head no. Next card.
It reads: “It still won't be enough…”
Next card.
It reads: “Your…”
Next card.
It reads: “End…”
Next card.
It reads: “Is…”
Next.
It reads: “Simply…”
Next.
It reads: “Inevitable…”
Kevin holds the last card out and he underlines it with his other hand.
Repeating it reads: “Inevitable…”
Kevin places all the cards on a table in front of him and he presses a button on the side of the camera. He sits back and he looks to the camera intently.
“Preecha I hope you get the point… Thanks to my lovely wife for that little tidbit, but this next part is going to be foreign to you… These next set of words are for your manager because he's the one who's going to have words for me, right?”
Kevin pats his title.
“It looks good, doesn’t it Armand? You're a manager and I know the payday that awaits you if your client can find a way to take out the Champ… You're practically salivating at the idea of your client earning a shot the grandest prize of them all. Imagine your story if he can pull that off for you… I can see you're just like any other manager… You're greedy… I had a man who begged to manage me and he was just as crooked as you… a smile and a suit, is that all it takes to be like you, Armand? Or am I misreading your character?”
Kevin shrugs.
“Truthfully, your face is begging me for a Black Death, so I plead with you… Stay clear of the ring or your face is going to get its wish. This is UCI and this is MAIN EVENT… sure not top billing, but every match that has the Champ in it, is instantly main event caliber. So you better do sign language... You better write it down… Do whatever you have to do to get this point across… Preecha Kamon isn't stepping into the ring with just some schmuck… He's stepping into the ring with a man who fought to get to the top… A man who fought to get out of the streets… And fought to become the man to carry this company on his back. It's going to take more than a deaf kick boxer to break me down… Your client is going to have to learn fear the hard way and I'm the man who's going to forcefully put that fear in him…”
Kevin tilts his head a bit.
“You didn't think this landscape was going to be easy did you? You thought you could just bring your client in and he'd be handed his second match against the World champ and it’d be a cake walk? It was going to be some sure victory? I mean I know your client is deaf but I didn't realize he was dumb as well… Dumb enough to let you control his career and to utilize him as your personal pawn to pad your own pockets…”
Kevin pauses on that statement.
“This… It isn't about the money… It's purely about the competition. I want your best and I want all the effort you can muster. Relay that sentiment to your boy because I will not accept a simple fall guy victory… Remind me why this is a combative sport and I'll be sure to bring the same fight in return.”
Kevin holds his left index and middle upward and then pats them on his other hand’s palm 3 times representing the sign for lose.
“That my friend is what your future holds…”
Kevin smirks and he points to his lips.
“Read my lips, Preecha... Your END is simply… Inevitable.”
Fade out to black.
