Mario is the son of the jumping man from donkey kong

He saved the princess and gained world wide notoriety

So he did Mario 2 which was a bit of an easier task to complete

To profit off his success the created a play of Mario (3)

Then it leaps to Mario 64 which is simply a reality tv show featuring Mario.

There's much more to it but that's what I remember.
