So, as some of you might have heard; I'm ever so slightly considering a comeback, my one condition being that I want a character that I really WANT to write. Sven is probably locked up in a padded cell by now, and Kuno is now an inside cat, he's had enough excitement.
I have one potential idea that i am still unsure if it's good enough, so i wanted to see if crew on the good ship dipshi-i mean UCI- might have any pitches.
(No baseball "pitch" puns, DK already made one so it's... out.)

I LOVE CHARACTER MAKING!!!!
I've been thinking of taking a stab at a gamer elite hacker type who speaks 733T. A friend of mine did it successfully before, it was just a really cool concept that was fun to read. His character was called 4r(4D3 (Arcade)
What about an 80s movie dbag type? Example being Biff from Back to the Future or "that blonde guy with the headband" from Karate Kid?
How about a real estate agent who thinks he can sell off UCI and its talent as if they're property?
I'm just throwing ideas out.

The key to making a character you want to play long term is to come up with someone that you can see yourself playing long term. Can they work when you have no long term storytelling arch idea? Can they work when you do? Can they transition in and out of these things?

Is there a general idea for look you have like race, gender, age? Any quirks like being dumb, smart, a slacker, a drinker/drug addict, daring, paranoid, etc.?

Spence hit the nail on this one, you have to think of it in the long term. How can this character evolve if you leave him room to evolve? A lot of characters you see come up and they have an expiration date. You want something you can see playing into the future, even if you have no set plans with them. Adapting to your surroundings, seeing where your character fits into the grand scheme of things.
Wade went from beach obsessed frat boy to God of the Sea.

Also, think about whatever character quirks you come up with and don't be afraid to be a cocktease with those traits. In my experience playing a racist black youth, I made it a point to not say the n word for like a year lol. Little dumb shit like that. Make what those quirks are pretty clear without feeling the need to blatantly state it very often/at all. You want to make it so people can think on your character a bit more and so you leave yourself room to grow that image organically at a rate that you feel comfortable with.

Character pitches.....hmmmmm. You might wanna stay away from the norm then. Or at least I will lol I sometimes have out there ideas. Look at Bolas lol
Idea 1: A woman that spent the majority of her childhood living as a boy. Daddy wanted a boy, so he gave her a boys name, dressed her like a boy and forbid her from ever revealing her truth. By her 13th birthday, she started to form and dad was caught and jailed. She went to live with a nice, older couple, who showed her what she missed. She was confused and ran away by the time she was 15. Fill in this part till she turns 18 and starts to truly explore her womanhood.
Idea 2: Ex sports agent. Younger life they were really good at sports, but not allowed to explore that due to a real rigorous religious upbringing. Somewhere between preacher and slick car salesman, in the sense that the guy truly believes he can sell anyone anything. He went to college and wanted to stay around sports, so he became an agent. And he started working out with select clients (A football player and wrestler would be smart to add here) He finally decided to train professionally, but never gave up on his sports agent career. I think this is a Paul Heyman sort of character, but with a much better physique and the ability to get really hands on in the ring. He could be the sort of person to want to form a group, being a manager/wrestler type in a sense
Idea 3: Unknown. I mean in every sense of the word. Name, childhood, family....all lost to a freak accident. Connection to a fictional terrorist attack would work, or some other accident. Limited knowledge for the character, so CD would be a lot of search and seek to build the character, allowing you to guide him as you wish week after week, adding to his knew history, while occasionally reveling a piece of his past. Sinister or Saint? It is something that can change week to week. The link, or best way to link his attitude week to week, is to dreams. Are they real? Are they an illusion made up by a mind trying to cope? So much room to wiggle and play.
Thats what I have at the moment.

Is there a general idea for look you have like race, gender, age? Any quirks like being dumb, smart, a slacker, a drinker/drug addict, daring, paranoid, etc.? Well, I always try to play something that is somehow similar to myself, but that is less about simple identities, and more about personality. Somehow I made Kuno fit that, and on the surface he was nothing like me.
