When a scorpion asks a frog to carry it across a lake to the next lily pad, the frog will hesitate, afraid to be stung by the scorpion. The scorpion make its case in the court of public opinion that if the scorpion stings the frog, they both will die. The frog agrees, but midway across the lake to the lilly pad, the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both to death.
